[Suggestion] Alternate Mission Leaders (Necro)

Recommended Posts

A necro of an old post of mine as id like to still very much see this in game, maybe someone will notice this time.. c'mon DE

I've been thinking about this for a while now, Instead of listening to lotus drone on and on and on for days and weeks and blah blah blah, Because after all it DOES get annoying listening to the same person forever. What if we had alternate voice packs for our mission leader?

I find certain missions which enable me to hear a different voice like Steel Path, or Arbitrations, or Quests, or Disruption are quite nice. It brings a certain element of Diversity to those long dull boring missions.

So what if we were able to purchase seperate packs on the market or even as a DLC for real life currency? I would pay DE $15 for an Ordis voice pack right now, I would even heavily consider $30, Maybe as a reward for getting max rank in one of the syndacates you can unlock the ability to have the Arbiter, or Suda, or Loka, or Red Veil be who talks to you instead of lotus? or after completing the Jordas quest you can have Jordas as your mission leader? Maybe also the open world syndacate leaders like Konzu and Onnko, and Eudico, and Little Duck, What about having Teshin or Simaris? A lot of characters we all know and love dearly who dont see nearly enough in game screen time. People we would much prefer the company of instead of a robot impersonation of a traitor.

Please, If someone out there at DE is reading this, consider it ok? Im sure the community would LOVE that kind of update, and it could also be just another source of that beautiful green paper that keeps this game running.

Anyone else reading this, How much would you like to have this implemented? Who would you like to have as your mission leader?

Or you know, At least add a slider for her. You added one for Ordis and Nora.. I want to hear everyone else.. just NOT HER. <3

I want to hear clem… for example:

”The alarms have been triggered. Hurry and get the data before they erase it”

will be

”Clem!”

And

“*static* Tenno… *static*—must listen to me. *static* —they will kill you! Abort— *static* the mission.” *when the grustag three comes*

will be

“Clem? Clem….. CLEM?? GRAKATA!!! GRAKATA!!!” Reason for this is grustag 3 are the ones who captured him and stole his grakatas so he wants you to kill them…

anyways you get the point… I think this a good idea.

I would only pay about $10 max for this, but if I could get Ticker giving me my orders that would be incredible. I just might pay more specifically for Ticker. Especially if she had some dialogue specific to her backstory included.

This has been floated multiple times with no response on the matter. I'm not sure if it is because doing voice for pretty much every type of mission in the game is prohibitively expensive or not, but I really think the pay off would well outweigh the costs.

One thing though, the devs never look at general discussion, I would report the post to ask that it be moved to feedback if you want a slim chance for a response or at least notice.

I'd like to see voice packs for all the major NPCs in the game, excluding enemy NPCs. As cool as a Tyl Regor voicepack would be, it wouldn't make sense for him to give us our orders. Unless they had a "villain's voicepack" in which various villains gave orders depending on what conflicted with any given character and what they might instead give orders for.

I would pay a significant amount for a voice package that included all voicepacks they did, as well. Assuming they gave us a sizeable enough amount to purchase.

Only way to make sure the thread gets noticed is to cause a commotion. Otherwise, #ignore.

If I could have Hek abuse me I think I'd be willing to pay for it.

I guess if they set it up smart several new voices would work. Would just have to restrict them from being used in their own factions missions. They could possibly start with universal characters, like the Entrati family, the syndicates (that like you), Clem, LD and so on.

nice as it would be, we're talking a large number of new voice lines for a lot of different characters, and that gets expensive, hence why we usually don't have that many characters at once appear in a quest (cinematics being the rare exception.). you can argue "well it's not like DE is poor!", but it just might not be a cost they can really justify.

but hey, there's always Sentient Lotus to guide us after the New War!

DE actually addressed this in the past(But only as a joke): https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Lotus/Voice_Packs

More on topic though, the fact that the game still uses many old voice lines that don't quite fit the situation(anymore) underlines what @stormy505has said.
A few examples:

"The VIP has been escorted to the extraction point"(That was the original plan how capture would have worked I think, but that was scrapped in favor of disintegrating them into our hands)
"Eliminate everyone/Leave nothing alive"(This is a relic from the time when you actually had to kill every single enemy; At one point DE gave up on trying to fix spawning issues related to this and came up with "their ranks are broken")

There are also quite a few new lines a complete replacement would need: 4 or more intro and extro line variants(with at least the into lines being mission-type specific), lines explaining changed or progressed objectives and lines relating to things like alert level("Nobody knows you are here") as well as pure flavor lines ("It's the Grineer") to spice up the missions.
It's much easier to do things like this for only some missions instead of all. And that is exactly what they did. Depending on the mission, we can have Ordis, Cy, Darvo, Little Duck, Udico etc. as our 'handler'.
I think it likely they might expand on that in the future but a full replacement would be a surprise.

Thanks for the suggestion and i very much agree they would easily make that money back and make the community very happy.

They could START with Ordis and Teshin and see how that floats with the players.. As both actors are ACTIVELY on the DE Payroll.. Then if it works well they can add more bit by bit..

And even with sentient lotus id still like nothing more than to kill or mute her. Hate lotus.

You have to bear in mind they made THOSE changes back when the game was still small and had minimal money and the payoff for fixing such things was far too small for the upfront cost, the playerbase is 1000x bigger now and there are many players willing to sink thousands of dollars into this game a year, im guilty of such.

Actually while that WOULD cause continuity conflict errors, So do tennogen skins and any non DE made skin, and various other aspects of the game, like the Loid And Otak skin for your sentinel.. So I think for anyone who buys the mission leader voice pack will know very well that its not cannon and is just there for the niceness..

Or you can buy a grineer mission leader and it will default to your corpus mission leader? and if you dont have one its just lotus Thats an option..
