(XBOX)Ancient Mutt
Hi, just wanted to ask, is the character in the tennocon 2022 trailer (Duviri Paradox?) the same guy from Dark Sector? They seem awfully similar to me, from what I can remember of it. Probably just coincidence but thought I'd ask anyway. Been meaning to ask, while taking about this, was there ever any continuation in the lore about Dark Sector to Warframe or did DE keep it separate? (PSN)robotwars7
it's always been seperate. DE canned Dark Sector to work on warframe, and they aren't in the same universe: they just added a few references to it (Excal & Glaive Proto skins, the protag of Dark Sector was also called Hayden Tenno, while Warframe's Tenno are named after the Zariman 10-0 colony ship. Warframe's Dark Sectors were originally PvP zones, but are now just heavily infested areas the other factions won't go to.)
Mieo_Mio
The pistol / glaive animations might be the only survivor, and the term "Tenno". If you look at the history of Unreal Tournament and DE's subsequent formation you'll see for yourself.
PublikDomain
Which guy? There's the bearded human which is an aged Tenno/Drifter, and then there's the masked character with the robot arm we don't know much of anything about. But the answer is no, Dark Sector and Warframe are separate universes.

I think the zariman ship (which is in the duviri trailer) is also something that was shown in the old dark sector videos.
LSG501
The bearded character in the 2021 trailer (same as 2022 one) was confirmed by DE to be a homage to dark sector guy, basically they're supposed to look similar.

Kinda got that wrong, the Warframe Tenno are a throwback/easter egg to the protagonist of Dark Sector, same as the Zariman.

Yes but the children were called Tenno because Zariman Ten Zero. Zero is usually read as O letter in English so Ten-O which then transformed into Tenno. But it's same time callback to Dark Sector. Actually, while they did notice the resemblance while creating the trailer, it was completely unintentional. They initially just wanted to make an aged-up version of the Operator seen at the end of the Railjack showcase, with a ragged appearance to show how much time had passed. That this made the model look like Hayden was a happy coincidence. It's worth noting that despite DE keeping the exact nature of Duviri under wraps, one of the first things they clarified in the next devstream after that Tennocon was that no, there is no direct connection between Warframe and Dark Sector. (XBOX)Ancient Mutt
Thanks everyone. So indirectly yes there are a lot of coincidences but no direct connection in lore. Ok thank you.
