Kinda want Helminth+ system

Recommended Posts

Current Helminth: Sacrifice a Warframe to get certain abilities transferable to other Warframes.

What I want: Sacrifice weapons, weapon blueprints, Warframe blueprints, resources and credits to make your own Warframe and weapons as one locked loadout. The game is choosing which neuroptics, chassis, systems, stock, barrel, grip, handle, blade, how much argon, nitain extract, tellurium, ferrite, nanospores, oxium, etc.

Throw in what you want, pull a lever, consult with Ordis what results you're likely to get, choose from one of three possibilities then select whether to proceed or add other sacrificial resources to improve consultation results.

When you get close to what kind of Warframe you want, pull the lever again and hope for the best.

Valence upgrades could improve your Warframe loadout once you've ranked it up.

You only get one and only get access once you have mastered the Helminth system. If you want to try again, you have to let the Helminth eat your first attempt (with a recycle bonus to further attempt RNG stabilisation).

In the abstract? Its an interesting and creative idea.

In practice? I think would be too cumbersome and not worth the trouble. Like this would require effort and resources to bug fix, and balance. There is a lot of RNG here, who will decide how much resources are required? Does more resources mean better RNG? Thats going to annoy people and also create a kind of gambling system. Some people will gamble in pursuit of the perfect outcome load out, no matter the amount of resources they will have to pour in... which creates issues. Also if its RNG, could someone put the bare minimum in, and get the highest RNG rolls/odds that exist? How unfair would that be? That will annoy people.

So you would also be adding power creep. How does the game get designed? With people using the system and people not using the system? Then the bugs that will pop up? So I think would create way too many issues.

Invigorations were pretty unpopular, and thats a far simpler, smaller, process thats only temporary.

mostly no, with the exception of being able to put in Infested weapons, because they still don't have an upgraded variant, and using Helminth to upgrade them would be in keeping with the Infested theme and make Helminth even more useful. ideally each weapon could have two or three evolution trees that offer different benefits for different playstyles, and could also affect the appearance of the weapon so that it looks more powerful too. using the Mire and Embolist as examples:

Evolved Mire: one tree grants crit boosts and enemies killed by it explode in a toxic miasma, another tree focuses on status effects and heavy attacks end up becoming a massive long-reaching sweep attack.

Evolved Embolist: one tree keeps it as a beam-type weapon, with increased range and damage, the other tree turns it into a launcher that consumes a LOT more ammo but fires infested grenades that explode into toxic mist that covers an area, sort of like the infested counterpart to Kulstar/Angstrum.

DE are seriously missing a trick with this: not only is this far more in depth and cooler than just recoloring and buffing existing weapons, but players will be more invested in helminth, and will be more inclined to use infested weapons they might otherwise avoid.
