Exactly how to play the game

How we should play the game depends on the rigid mode prescribed by the developer or on our own imaginative wisdom to discover interesting ways and means to play happily

Game developers are sponsors of us who shackle or let go of themselves,

The producers encountered any problems during each live broadcast without thinking about how to overcome the problem on their own, just simply entering the code in the background, so whether they really played this game, whether they really loved the game, and made it with their hearts. Is it really because they weaken every update because they're too strong or because they're too lazy to develop unpopular weapons

I hope i'm interpreting your post right - but yes, it's better when you're given oppurtunity to play how you want and approach, then complete a challenge with a wide variety of tools provided to you.

However, problems arise when a dominant strategy far overtakes all the others and removes all the challenge from the game, and eventually, the fun. It's an even bigger problem when it's multiplayer, as the person using the dominant strategy will often leave very little for others to do, or expect others to follow along even if they don't like the strategy - both of which we saw with the Wukong + KZarr strategy. In order to keep a game healthy and engaging, Setups like this need to be swatted down to a more reasonable level - And if they don't, all future content will need to be designed around the strategy to make sure it stays the intended difficulty, which further compounds the problem of players feeling forced into a given setup.

A quote from the creators of Civ 4, Soren Johnson and Sid Meier, comes to mind: ”given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game" from Soren, and “one of the responsibilities of designers is to protect the player from themselves" from Sid. Both feel very appropriate for the given situation.

You speak with derogatory terminology, but having the correct playstyle dictated to you by the developers is perfectly normal. Most games do it.

We praise games like Half Life, or Silent Hill, or God of War, or certain Call of Duty games, or Doom, or Celeste, and countless other games that all share this in common: they have a "right" way to play them, and they will just kill you if you do it wrong.

Games where the developers tell you "you spawn on point A, the exit is at point B, just get there and we don't care how" are comparitively rare. Some games will give you "free reign within reason" like System Shock, Deus Ex, Devil May Cry, and Dark Souls; they give you lots of different playstyles, many of which are valid, but some of which are very NOT valid and will lead to a slow and frustrating death. Truly open-ended games -- where the devs just do not care and let you abuse whatever you want -- are very rare, the best example I can think of is Mario Odyssey.

DE are not making Mario Odyssey
