WarspitePOWAAAAH Posted October 1, 2022 Share Posted October 1, 2022 Personally, I quite like the design of Loki, he has quite an interesting idea going on with his kit and his Switch Teleport remains an ability that not a single frame out of the 49 other frames can replace. However, with the release of more and more frames over the years a large portion of what Loki does has been replaced by many other better, more convenient options, rendering him one of the most niche frames in the game that is used mainly in Riven Challenges, and speeding up progress on missions like Bounties or Disruption if you are looking to blow up some conduits to control the drop. While its quite impressive to see that Loki still sees his own usage in weird places after such a long time, it is really unfair that he never got an update on his base kit, not even a slight statistic buff. Due to the simplicity of Loki's kit, this rework concept will be keeping a large portion of what he originally does, with some welcoming additions to bring him up to the standards of modern frames. Augments will also be discussed, with some ideas for new augments. ============== PASSIVE Spoiler ORIGINAL : Wall Latches lasts 10x longer. NEW : Wall Latches lasts 10x longer and gives Loki 35% Dodge rate. Loki and allies within Affinity sharing range will have their next attack register twice upon Dodging an attack, Dodge on summoned units will buff its master instead. ------------------------- 1ST ABILITY The first ability as it is right now is just placing a DECOY. Not only does it not do anything else, the DECOY is also literally made of paper, giving it an uptime of about 2 seconds as it draws the attention of the enemies. I personally mess around with the augment Switch Teleport to make the DECOY invulnerable, while I subsume MOLT to have 2 invulnerable decoys as I spam teleporting between them. It's meme-y and hilarious and kinda effective but there are other abilities that is simply much more convenient and straight up better at distracting enemies. This ability will also have its functionality fused with INVISIBILITY. Spoiler NEW : New Hold functionality allows Loki to go invisible as he leaves a decoy in place, uses INVISIBILITY cast animation with 50% increased casting speed. DECOY now has 50% Dodge rate, often ignoring attacks upon being hit. Activating other AoE abilities will see mimicked cast at the location of the DECOY.Maximum DECOY count increased to 3.INVISIBILITY will now reduce weapon noise by default. New augment : Spoiler Savior Decoy is the current augment for DECOY, which will teleport you to the decoy's location if you take fatal damage and absorb the hit. This is an augment for an ability that draws aggro, requires you to keep it alive to utilize its death mitigation effect, for a frame that uses invisibility and distraction as its main method of survival. I don't know about you, but it just seems very out of place and unfit for his kit and theme with what this augment does and how it works. Frames like Loki usually don't get hit much, and the main cause of death comes from random Toxin procs/damage, which the augment won't actually save you if its the former as you are not cleansed from the DoT. The bonus 50% casting speed is barely any useful because DECOY already has a short casting animation. A completely new augment will be proposed : Spoiler Divergent Tactics - DECOYS are able to capture objectives 50% faster. Each enemy targeting a DECOY gives all teammates within its range +0.2/s Energy Regen and +20% Shield Recharge rate, stacking up to +4 Energy/s and +400% Shield Recharge. Upon destruction, DECOYS explode to apply a temporary 75% Damage Vulnerability to all enemies within range. Subsumed Spoiler No mimicking AoE abilities. No Hold Functionality. ------------------------- 2ND ABILITY As INVISIBILITY has been fused with DECOY, SWITCH TELEPORT moves up to the 2nd ability slot. I think this ability is fine on its own, I just wish Loki can switch the positions of more things instead of just 1 enemy, and maybe faster casting speed and lower energy. A new synergy added with DECOY that also improves the QoL of DECOY by highlighting them through walls for Loki. Spoiler SWITCH TELEPORT gains a small AoE around target, enemies within will also be teleported with the target, being randomly redistributed around the switched location.SWITCH TELEPORT grants Loki 1.5 seconds of invisibility, casting while invisible will also halve the energy cost.SWITCH TELEPORT will temporary allow Loki to steal and possess whatever aura abilities the switched enemy had, while temporarily disabling it for the target. Increased base casting speed by 30%.DECOYS are highlighted through walls for Loki, allowing Loki to use SWITCH TELEPORT on them without line of sight. Augment Changes : Spoiler This augment was buffed in the recent augment batch update, and is currently in a better position. Only minor additions added to go alongside some of the proposed additions to the base ability. OLD : Switch with an enemy for 3s invulnerability.NEW : Switch with an enemy for 3s invulnerability, 1.5s bonus for each additional enemy teleported. ------------------------- NEW 3RD ABILITY As a deceiver Loki has a very distinguished kit with abilities full of personality, this newly proposed 3rd continues on that line by being extremely unique and quirky, so much so that it might seem very much unlikely that they will add anything like it, for it has serious potential for players to troll other players. I will try to implement counter measures to minimize its disruptive effects on teammates. Spoiler DIVINE TRICKERY (160 energy) "Playing a wicked humor on his teammates, Loki harms his allies to bestow them with a choice of extremely powerful offensive or utility buffs." Selecting an ally as a target, DIVINE TRICKERY sees Loki points his holographic Lato(Lex Prime for Prime variant) and fires a burst of 10 shots at the targeted ally, each shot dealing Toxin damage equivalent 18% of the target's maximum Health. Allies surviving the whole burst are granted 5 seconds of invulnerability, and gains +75% Ability Strength, Range and Duration while regenerating +25 energy/s for the offensive buff; For the utility buff, target emits an aura that disables special abilities, removes a % of Overguard and severely reduces the accuracy and Status Chance on enemies. Successfully applying a full burst on allies gives Loki and his allies within Affinity sharing range a 75% Dodge buff. If an ally has insufficient health, DIVINE TRICKERY will stop firing mid-burst, applying the effects with reduced effectiveness according to how many shots were fired onto the target (i.e. An ally only has enough health to take 6 shots, DIVINE TRICKERY ends after 6 shots with all the buffs being at 60% effectiveness, 4 shots gives 40% effectiveness, etc.), doing so will not trigger the Dodge buff effect and puts DIVINE TRICKERY at a 60s cooldown. Cannot be used on allies below 18% Health. Tap for offensive buff, Hold for utility buff. Interactions Spoiler Using DIVINE TRICKERY on DECOY destroys it to bestow the buff onto Loki, ignoring all survivability effects on the DECOY. ------------------------- 4TH ABILITY RADIAL DISARM would be a fine ability if there wasn't a frame called Xaku. While it is true that there are better CC frames, the direction of Loki lies more towards weakening and disabling enemies rather than straight up CCing them. Making the augment the standard effect of this ability while also adding a new augment for bonus, optional functions. Spoiler Irradiating Disarm augment effect made default for RADIAL DISARM, confusing affected enemies. Affected enemies additionally suffers 25% permanently reduced attack speed, doubled if cast under the PASSIVE effect after a Dodge, capping out at 75%.Halved energy cost when cast while invisible. New Augment : Spoiler Radial EMP - RADIAL DISARM temporarily disables all shields and special abilities on hit enemies, and will stun and disable all robotic enemies in range, while completely destroying nullifier drones, grenades and various deployed equipment in range. No longer completely disarms enemies, instead their weapons are jammed and exploded to deal radial Electricity damage with a guaranteed affliction, forcing a reload afterwards. Explosion is triggered every time an affected enemy attacks.(For appropriate status effects matching each factions, Grineer deals and afflicts the effect of Heat damage, where as Infested will be afflicted with Impact.) A few tweaks here and there would make it a go-to build for any mission for me (e.g. I would completely revamp it's 4th ability, into one of "chaos/mayhem", increasing friendly-fire and damage output from enemies to their own allies (something similar to nyx.. or revenant, but has to be unique of loki)... all in all, loved it <3 I'm glad to see some love to loki from some scarce players. I feel like this should be an augment rather than a thing in his base kit since it doesn't really feel like something that should be in a base kit. Thanks! I definitely wanted to give Radial Disarm more functionality when designing, but had to put into consideration that disarm is already very strong damage output nerf on enemies on it own. I definitely did consider that for his 4th but then thought it would be unnecessary since Loki never really cared if the enemies are dead or not, just as long as they are harmless. But buffing the damage output of enemies definitely seems to be something quirky and interesting that gives Loki even more weird playstyles and utilities. 9 minutes ago, weeaboopotato said: reading this alone has already sold me on this rework.
