Furis Prime (step by step tutorial of how to create it)

Well, Furis Prime is something we've been waiting for uncountable time already, so I decided to make my concept design of it, while also trying to explain how I did it.

-

Step 1: Let's draw Furis in plain white color, start nice and simple.

Great

-

Step 2: Let's add some darker secondary parts.

1. Let's add some kind of extra part so it's more distinguishable from the base design.

2. Here, I went with something that kind of wraps around the magazine.

-

Step 3: Let's add Tertiary lines, to make it look even more distinguishable and Orokin-ish.

I added a sign in Orokin language saying "Furis". Just a little easter egg.

Now this part was all up to the designer. I just followed my improvisation, and painted some random ornaments until I liked the result. I left some empty spaces for golden parts.

-

Step 4: Let's get to the main part - Golden Accents.

Here, I'm gonna add a disc shape in the middle, add some gold to the trigger, and magazine. Again, I followed my improvisation here. I'm trying to not make it too bold and give it some pretty ornaments like the Orokin does. Let's add some more:

-

Step 5: More gold.

More to the back, handle and barrel. I think it's still not enough and isn't too different from the base design yet, so I'm gonna lengthen some of the golden ornaments:

-

Step 6: Improve.

1. Lengthened the lever part little more.

2. Middle part of the barrel looked a little dull, so I added more gold there.

Also added some more ornaments on handle, though I forgot to point them out on the image.

Now here begins the hardest, and the most time consuming part.

-

Step 7: Shading.

Now here, I actually needed to use Blender to have some references in order to shade correctly. I got inspired by Sybaris Prime and Avia Prime Armor for the disc of Furis Prime. Shading usually emphasizes the shape of the design even more, so this is very important, but also challenging part.

PLUS added some blue emissive parts.

-

BONUS:

I actually didn't consider the fact that Furis is already a small weapon, so those really tiny and thin Tertiary ornaments wouldn't really be that visible when being held in-game, so I decided to change them.

Moved the Orokin "Furis" sign to the bottom of the handle. Now I think it looks better.

Well, generally, designing Primes is pretty challenging. This, for example, took me well over two weeks to make, but still, I think that it lacks, or has too much of something. I went with the old fashioned styling because I absolutely hate the new Prime designs I will admit that to you. They have some Orokin ornaments (still lack them), but they also really lack the kind of Orokin parts that feel "functional" and mechanical, which are really noticable in earlier 2010s Prime frames and weapons (and accessories).

I'd love to see this with the orokin inscriptions, there's not enough prime weapons that have them and that makes them look very bland. On the other hand the ones who do, it makes them look holy, sacred and truly special in my eyes.

I’m surprised Vor hasn’t returned from the void. Makes me wonder if “The Song” is what Vor is referring to when he talks of the void like it’s an entity.

It has me picturing what if grineer figured out how to open up a portal to the void that allowed Vor to come back. Maybe some grineer felt like everything started falling apart ever since Vor’s apparent death. And maybe during void storms somebody saw Vor and tried to see if he can try to bring Vor back.

Afterwards, I could see a whole new set of grineer weapons that have been heavily upgraded with orokin technology similar to his seer pistol. Would be crazier if some of the grineer started to change into semi void angels as a result of being exposed to the void at which Vor basically praises or express admiration.

As of right now there’s a lot of potential for the void. More specifically the corrupted faction with Vor as a sort of boss instead of just some annoying enlightened preacher. Surprised there ain’t more missions. Expand the void tile set to include more missions including a scenario where they are basically being invaded by the void with Vor as the sort of anchor. So defeating Vor and closing the portals could be part of the mission or collection of missions.

Like those Veil helmets the new enemy group be wearing. What if Vor got a hold of some and had them redesigned to “enlighten” the grineer and the rest of the solar system. As a result some became too exposed to the void and weak minded that they turn into a new breed of Void Angels. Due to grineer biology, some are very unstable.

I just feel like there could be something really big that DE could do. And designing the new orokin enhanced grineer technology would be one of those things.

Dunno why I didn't see this before, but now I re-read it, and I absolutely agree. Older ones just look 100% more canon and ancient like all primes are supposed to.

Newer primes? Too shiny, too over designed and with too different art styles. DE please go back.

Baruuk is the next prime to be released around early January. You could draw your idea of his signature weapon as a prime followed by what you believe his second prime should be. Being a pacifist, I would assume another primed sentinel instead of a gun which is mainly offense. Having a sentinel that provides assistance seems perfect for embodying the whole pacifist vibe of Baruuk.

Like either the Taxon or the Nautilus. The Taxon is one of the first free sentinels while the Nautilus helps put out fires and such for Railjack which is sort of like a pacifist compatible companion. So the Nautilus does seem more like the perfect companion for Baruuk.

Also it’s been a few years since the last prime sentinel so baruuk/Hildryn do seem like the next prime targets in line. I picture Hildryn either coming with her own orokin styled Moa that comes with unique/exclusive prime robot mods. Euphana Prime has no non-prime variant so it could be possible. Or she would have some sort of explosive weapon. Either way I don’t see Hildryn as the sentinel type.

Would be very Monk/Egyptian like. Almost like a royal guard of some sort. Maybe his melee would give off a phoenix vibe in its design.

Hmm, Prime Moa and Prime Nautilus make more possibilities:

If we get Primed Moa, then there's a chance we'll get Prime K-Drive too (Probably with Yareli Prime, 10000 years from now), and Nautilus Prime will give us possibilities of Pennant Prime and Quellor Prime, which I find pretty exciting.

About the Baruuk Prime, I really want to try designing him on my own, but I'm still not sure, because these Prime projects are pretty time consuming, and also there's a chance DE won't like it or worst of all, will never see it. I might still give it a try tho. Cobra & Crane Prime's gonna be little easier but Baruuk Prime, not so much. I find designing warframes and human objects in general pretty difficult.
