so i'm stuck on the acer aspire 4755g during the weekend... (i usually have a computer and a 40 inch led tv to play on during the weekdays) and it's slow ( it just has an NVIDIA GeForce GT 540 M with 2 gig of VRAM)... so any tips on getting this baby to work faster? will lowering the resolution help( i've unchecked the other settings and set everything else to low) ? Any laptop settings i need to check or modify? Thanks in advance for any help.

I use a dell XPS15 with GT420m during my lunch hour and it has to be set to 1280x720 to be playable. Try medium settings and use fraps or bandicam to get a fps readout. See what difference the settings make.

Generally speaking, the best way to boost fps is to lower your resolution, as you mentioned.
