taiiat
Gauss is good for doing relatively linear Missions pretty fast. you can breeze by Enemies while Killing them, and Mach Rush is well suited for bursting through tight corridors. also Thermal Sunder is the strongest AoE Damage Ability in the game. What else do you mean by Linear? yeah, Missions like that. Missions where you mostly go from the start to Extraction, without a lot of hanging around. but since Thermal Sunder is so powerful, if you have to hang around, it's pretty fine, you can just delete the Enemies. you just obviously aren't taking advantage of the mobility parts of Gauss then. BroDutt
Gauss is good as a subject for Helminth. Just subsume Thermal Sunder to Volt or Titania and you get better speedster Aoe for Exterminate.
SteveCutler
He's fantastic. He's one of the few frames with a well-designed kit, where all abilities are useful. He's very fast with Mach Rush, has good survivability with his Kinetic Plating and passive, has quick CC (a freeze) with his Thermal Sunder, has some nuking capability with his Thermal Sunder, has a full armor strip with his Thermal Sunder, and has a weapon DPS buff with his Redline. He's also very easy to play, especially since they patched his battery mechanic to be so braindead-easy to charge that it might as well not even exist. What mission would he be good at other than Survival in your opinion?
Zakkhar
I ran him in Void Armageddon. There is a lot of running, control of areas and hard hitting enemies that knock you down (gauss is immune to knockdowns when his 2 is up). I ran it solo while farming Plasm/Arcanes and rotation rewards.
SteveCutler
I would say he's a great pick for most any mission type. In missions like Survival, he can simply kill fast. In missions like Capture, Rescue, and Spy, he can quickly race to the objective or finish line. In missions like Exterminate and Disruption, he does both: races to the objective and kills fast. He's a weaker pick for something like Defense or Excavation, since he doesn't have anything to shield the defense objective. Generally Gauss is built with low range, so while he does have a powerful CC with his full freeze, it won't lock down the entire map on a standard build. He's still capable though, and can zoom around and kill enemies, and spam his CC as he runs around if needed.

And if I should use his Signatures weapons as well with him. He’s a speedy generalist DPS. Use him for capture, exterminate, survival, rescue, sabotage, and any other mission type that doesn’t require a wall or invisibility. Be careful when using him against very high level infested. And be careful when bringing him against nullifiers and disruption demolysts, as he depends on buffs for survivability. His signature weapons are the Akarius and Acceltra. The Akarius got gutted by the melee nerf and the Acceltra has never been all that amazing past the standard star chart, so I wouldn’t really bother with either of them. You’d be better off with a weapon that performs well with speed boosts. The trumna comes to mind. Recent incarnons are also probably a fantastic option, though Gauss is often moving so much that headshots won’t be the easiest thing in the world to perform. I think Gauss is more than just helminth food, and he's just as valid for running through missions as Titania or Volt in my opinion. I have a Thermal Sunder build for Titania but I just don't find it as fun to play. Not to mention using Razorwing a lot can be motion sickness inducing. Energy economy feels more forgiving on Gauss too and his Thermal Sunder casts are stronger outside helminth. I know Titania can be faster, but even with Spellbind on bumping into walls can get a bit more annoying than it does on Gauss. 1 hour ago, (XBOX)Heartrime6690 said: Thank you for the advice this is the answer I was looking for If you're a newer player and want a build to quickly run through those mission types with high ability range, I'd also recommend Gauss over Titania with his ability because as Gauss you're going to break a lot of containers with Mach Rush which is going to get you a lot of resources and more energy orbs so you can keep using your abilities. But it's up to your preference anyway, play whatever you find more fun to play. As for his signature weapons, Acceltra is pretty good. The lack of crit chance on the Akarius makes it not so good though. Gauss Prime is most likely next after Grendel Prime though, and it's very likely Gauss Prime is going to get his signature weapons primed, so if you want to invest in Gauss' signature weapons it might be worth it to wait for that instead of investing in his non prime signature weapons. MutoManiac
IMO his signature weapons are fantastic. The ammo nerf though, made the Akarius almost unusable and used to be only viable using Primed Sure Footed or it would land you on your ass almost every time. It has homing rockets and crazy AOE damage. Before I got PSF, I used to jump first and then shoot or it would knock you down. The Acceltra is still one of the best weapons in the game (shoots Plasma rockets) although ammo drum, etc. are needed. I have a crit build with a pretty good riven and I used it until the 60% toxin Tenet Arca Plasmor and the Boar incarnon showed up. Still an S-Tier weapon by any standard and I still bring it out doing low level SP missions. It’s so much fun seeing Grineer fly all over the place when you hit them with it. (XBOX)Hellsteeth30
He can do all of it really, except defections where you need to buff the idiots not yourself. He does specialise in point A/B/C missions, great for intercept solos too as he can get around fast. Thermal Sunder is the best small area nuke in the game, so he can deal with defence if he has to. His secondary (forget the name) is trash due to a bug which causes self-knockback a larger distance than it should. Acceltra will murk regular starchart, but starts tailing off on Steel Path. As stated however it should get a prime when Gauss does, which will be a few months from now I imagine.
