Damage 2.0......why I Stopped Playing Warframe

82 posts in this topic

Synapse is one of the best guns... being able to get magnetic AND corrosive AND heat damage, all at once.

other than that:

These should help you with your guns, top tier guns are more or less still top tier, just gotta mod them correctly.

Wait.  Magnetic, corrosive, AND heat?  How do you pull that one off?

You are just not adjusting to the system.

Compliment your weapons appropriately to destroy certain factions.

Ogris - add more blast or add corrosive damage to destroy grineer. Easily modded with heat for infested or electric for cirpus as blast is fairly well rounded.

Synapse - make it corrosive to melt grineer, magnetic for corpus. It is not meant for infested.

Dual ichor - make it corrosive for grineer, viral for infested, it's less effective but gas can work against corpus.

Flux - add more slash damage and viral damage for infested.

Embolist - make it viral for infested, corrosive for grineer. It's average against corpus.

The acrid and torid could use some work as the DoT is a bit borked at the moment.

Also, to my knowledge the dual ichor never had a DoT.

Certain weapons are specialised towards certain factions at the moment. You can't make every gun in the game good against every faction.

Some weapons are good all round guns (braton prime) that you can mod for all three factions. But this gun will never be as effective as one built towards murdering one faction. This is something you have to come to terms with.

Also, no one cares if you are a master founder. You shouldn't flaunt that to try and make your point more valid. You supported this game fully aware that it is in beta and subject to radical change. I wonder how you would have reacted had you played before update 7.....

Oh, hm, just realised it muight not work, although it should, I think...

Anyways, order would be cold (should combo with the default nature for mag, I think), then electric, then poison, then fire. If it works as I think it does (not 100% sure) it should be all 3. Gonna go try it now.

edit: ah, guess I was mistaken, it doesn't work due to mods (more or less) overwriting the base damage (i.e. toxin, cold, fire, elec on synapse gives radiation and viral)

It actually enables the use of more weapons not less - don't make S#&$ up because 2 or 3 weapons you want to use exclusively can't lolcannon everything without even minimal modding effort on your part.

Also, LOL at the boohoo no red crit crowd - you realize red crits weren't special right?  It was only a UI representation of crits that were aided by frame abilities/buffs.

Anyways, nothing of merit in this thread so I'm out.

Last I heard the Synapse was still great.

Damage 2.0 hasn't even been out for a week, we will find ways to make old favorites great again. At this point everyone is still trying to use their old setups, some of which still work, some of which don't. We just need to adapt, it's not ruined the game, it's just changed drastically and we haven't adapted to it yet.

Damage 2.0 made elite weapons useless and frustrating to use

Only if you're not modding them intelligently. Acrid is still amazing. Soma is still amazing.

Yeah you can't just slap on AP mods and go to town, you actually have to give some thought as to what kinds of targets you're engaging. But that's a good thing, IMO. It encourages players to try different loadouts and builds.

I'm a vet with 600 hours under my belt. I've got my high end weapons like acrid, galatine, soma, etc. I love damage 2.0 overwhelmingly. Sure it has a couple of issues, but those are minor and can be tweaked away.

How do you get magnetic and corrosive on the synapse, I tried but electric keep fusing and not giving corrosive.

Just because you're a founder, doesn't mean you don't have to L2P. Damage 2.0 changed everything. Sorry that you can't just stick on Serration and go back to destroying everything. Well, not really. I lied. I'm not sorry. The whole point of this new system is to bring "low-tier" guns in line with the "end-game" guns. You're supposed to build a large arsenal of weapons, but it isn't one-size-fits-all anymore. Some guns are good against one enemy type, and bad against others. Early-game guns have more balanced, generalized damage, and the clantech/prime/high-mastery guns are specialized. You're supposed to build into a niche loadout over time. This gun for X, that gun for Y. Lecta for Corpus, Dual Ichor for Grineer.

I can't really be bothered beyond this point. Either you've got poor spending habits, dumping cash into a game that you're going to drop in a fit of impotent nerd rage, or you're a hypocrite and you'll be back in a week. It would be a shame to see you back around Design Council, really. What Design Council needs is helpful feedback and constructive criticism, not whiny Fairweather Tenno. If you'd completely up and quit because you don't want to adjust to the changes in each new update, then good riddance. That goes for you, and anyone/everyone who's posting these stupid "I'm gonna quit Warframe" threads. Go away quietly, for goodness' sake. We're not going to miss your type. We don't know who you are, we never did, and we don't care what you do.

These threads are useless in the first place, but what makes it worse is that you're trying to leverage Founders status as some sort of measure of importance.

"Ooh, I spent money on the gaaaaame, I'm speeeeeecial!"
No. You're not. If you quit, you quit. DE's got your money, and the community won't miss you.
Don't do this in another game forum. Let this be a humbling experience. Take a step back, think about it, and next time don't muck up the forums with your ridiculous tyrades. That goes for all of you, but especially Founders. Feedback is one thing, this is just nerd rage. Learn the difference before you post.

You know that 2.0 has just been released?

 ^ this

nerdraging over an introductory new system that has been quoted as being work in progress on a beta game is beyond insane.

Hey guess what remember how this game is still open beta... and I don't know... SUBJECT TO CHANGE... You threw your lot in with the rest of us. If you were not expecting violent change (especially after we told you about the whole Mod tree change several times) then you were not properly prepared for this game.

This game is Subject to change... it is in no way in its complete form. Who knows what else will happen, but you need to stop thinking things in this game will not change to achieve a special objective in the games functionality. You were warned when you made the account. You read the agreement, and policy... right? right......? RIGHT?

No of course you didn't... You never read the policy, or agreement you just skipped on through.

Yeah, ignore that, I was wrong, I forgot mod order overwrites EVERYTHING (i.e putting poison, cold, fire, electric on gives radiation and gas)

Based on this thread, and many other threads like it, the only people who do not like damage 2.0 are the people who have not figured it out yet.

I'm guessing the OP doesn't understand the new damage system yet. His points are all wrong. OP weapons like the ones he mentioned are even more powerful than ever.

...

I know in damage 2.0

If I put Fire and Ice on my gorgon

it not only does the damages, it also makes everything fall down a lot...

... and it works against all the factions really well, and it goes dakkadakkadakka, and things die.

Still trying to find a good element combo for my Supra and Cestra though... but applying logic:

The Laser weapons deal puncture damage innately. Puncture is only -really- fantastic against grinner, and is okay against Corpus, and terrible against infested. By that logic, I should mod it to deal with infested better, and try to make it better against the Corpus...

Well, Slash damage is out of the way, because all the physical damage mods are broken. (they work off the % base damage of that type for the weapon, not the % of the weapons over all damage. ;/ That could use a fixing) and the infested don't particularly give a damn for any of the combo mods. (They recently added blast bonus damage, but that's extremely minor.) So I should add fire. That'll help with the infested in general, but now I need to round out the Corpus... Corpus are primarily robotic with shields... so Magnetic Damage, which is Ice and Lightning, will do wonders. Then add in Serration, Multishot, and a Rifle Ammo Mutation, and I should, in theory, have a pewpew gun that solves my problems. :)

Thankfully Warframe now requires some brains. Acrid and Flux are still valid choices but no more universal ones - if you don't know what tools you need don't even start the work.

You haven't gotten true damage in the game until you've seen purple numbers.  Those purple numbers are complete killers, though you may have to hit yourself in the head in a few times to make all those yellow numbers look purple, but it's worth it. *<:O)

While I agree with you that Damage 2.0 has weakened Warframe it's not bad enough to stop me from playing.

My main problem with it is how it made high level weapons like the Soma mediocre weapons.  Before Damage 2.0 my Soma was a power house for mid level enemies.  I used it more like an assault rifle against those enemies instead of a minigun.  Now it's the opposite.  I have to use it like a minigun because it just doesn't put down as much damage anymore.

It can't be the mods either.  I replaced the armor piercing mod with a slash damage mod to maximize the damage output.  The mediocrity isn't just against one faction, it's against all three.  Why this is happening is beyond me.  If I knew the problem I would have fixed it.

Here are my mods for reference: http://i.imgur.com/1fcfcVC.png

I'm loving damage 2.0. All of my guns are viable now. The new damage types are great to play around with. No more "just bring all 4 elemental types and armor piercing and win."

My flux rifle is still shredding high-level infested. My Soma is still ruining enemies, even Corpus, on high-tier planets (Pluto, I'm looking at you). It's all about getting the appropriate damage-types onto a gun for the faction you're going up against. Here's a great read on it:

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_2.0

For example, using magnetic on a gun makes it deal 75% more (magnetic damage) against shields, and 50% more against robots. Even with a gun like a Soma, which has weak impact damage, it absolutely ruins level 50+ Corpus on Pluto defense missions.

I do wish though, that they would buff Toxin Damage so that it wasn't so useless base. ;/ Saryn can't do much to anything end game, because the only 'heavy' unit that she's good against, is the Corpus Tech, AFTER you take out the shields that make up most of it's life bar. Fusion Moa's resist her, all infested resist her, Heavy Gunners/Napalms/Ballista's/etc are a neutral that's mostly negated by the nature of armored units because they take reduced damage from anything they're not weak to...

Otherwise I do love it, I like needing to think a bit when building my weapons. :)

Some of my highlevel weapons do better than before, many are comparable.... but the real deal is.... many old "trash tier" weapons perform moderately acceptable now.

90% of the people raging just want 1 thing.... 1 weapon to rule every enemy in the game and while this isn't completely impossible.... it just is not what damage 2.0 is about.

Damage 2.0 is about being able to combine 2 or 3 weapons in a set to either be specialized on 2-3 damage types each or go overkill on 1-2 and shred shred away....and just use a different layout for another enemy type.

There is finally an incentive to use more than just 1 weapon in this entire game.... adapt and evolve or go away.

People yelling damage 1.0 damage 1.0....do you even know what that means?

Damage 1.0:

Only have 10% of the weapon pool be viable

Only have 2-3 god tier weapons that every minmaxer will always use

Only use god tier weapons to breakt he boundaries of the game

Damage 2.0:

Have viability on almost every weapon

Have multiple layouts to focus on 1 enemy type each OR

Have 1 generalized layout and don't excellt as hard with it anymore

Set new records with any weapons you like...that were previously just so bad that they weren't even an option.

If you cannot adapt to a change as simple as that I am sorry...then you are a player that should be playing nothing more than a silly shooter without any brains at all... I recommend Quake 4 for you.
