Tenno,

With the arrival of Jade Shadows on Tuesday, June 18th, we would like to help prepare you for the Update with some rough update sizes on each platform:

PC: ~1.15 GB

Playstation 4: ~1.30 GB
Playstation 5: ~4.00 GB

Xbox One: ~2.67 GB
Xbox Series: ~2.72 GB

Nintendo Switch: ~1.22 GB

iOS: ~1.00 GB*

Total Warframe Download Sizes:
For new Tenno who are downloading the game for the first time and the Tenno who are curious about how much space Warframe uses on their device, we’ve included the total build size of Warframe per platform:

PC: 39.5 GB

Playstation 4: 43.33 GB
Playstation 5: 48.06 GB

Xbox One: 49.7 GB
Xbox Series: 49.9 GB

Nintendo Switch: 18.87 GB

iOS: 12.3 GB

*iOS Download Size & Changes Note:
A note for our iOS Tenno as we are moving the Awakening Quest (tutorial) into the initial App Store install with the release of Jade Shadows.

Previously, the initial App Store install was roughly 100MB, and the rest of the game would download in the launcher. Now, the initial app install will be roughly 3.9GB (which can be downloaded in the background like other apps) and you can launch the game to play the Awakening Quest far sooner, allowing new Tenno to jump into the action much faster.

What To Expect:
In order for the above changes to take place, all iOS Tenno will need to redownload the 3.9GB app from the App Store after Jade Shadows launches on June 18th. Upon the launch of the update, you will receive an “Update Available” popup as usual and be redirected to the App Store to do so.  We appreciate your patience and understanding!

What would it take to slim ps4 down to nintendo switch levels? Can we ditch some textures? Lose some voiceover or talking head stuff? Like, if it's good enough for switch, why does ps4 need to be over twice as big?

Off the top of my head, the simplest issue is switch only needs 720-1080p textures due to its maximum screen resolution in both handheld and docked, any larger textures would be difficult to notice due to the screen resolution limitation.

Meanwhile, the PS4 can support up to 4k, which is a 4-5x increase which would be in line with the size discrepancies. With older games (ie, Skyrim) we would see an optional 4k patch, which would allow the base game to run at 13-ish GB without installing 4k textures...but I don't believe I've ever seen this method on a console?

I was taught to make my asset textures at 2160p (I believe it is now 4k minimum, but some projects could see 8k within the next 2-3 years) maximum, and downscale accordingly during QA and Optimization testing; but, back then the average display resolution was 720-1080p, with the 2160p textures only coming into play for either cutscenes or first person camera textures.

Hey, I have a question is there an exact time everyone will get the update. If there is please excuse my ignorance in asking what might that time be?

Can we know what’s changed (in details) ahead of time?

I meant, I’d like to know whether I should prepare for “upcoming bugs” (learning from the past on how some open landscapes became completely inaccessible for me with Dante Unbound).
