Them being unequippable on a lot of weapons that fit the semi requirement is mostly random, as an example Zymos can fit it and it's an aoe weapon but Tenet Detron, Tenet Plinx and Sepulcrum can't.

Tenet Arca Plasmor can fit cannonade mods??? It's one of the best weapons, you may argue that the penetration is wasted on it but the mod locks the fire rate from mods so it buffs critical deceleration.

The criteria of eligibility feels totally random.

It's not random:  the design criterion is, is the weapon Semi-Automatic only. From your list,

  • Tenet Detron is full auto on alt fire
  • Tenet Plinx has a charged mode
  • Sepulcrum isn't semi automatic at all, it fires a 2-shot Burst plus it has a guided missile alt-fire

While technically correct , this kind of makes the mods moot on a lot of weapons that could benefit them. Is the intention to follow technicalities or to make weapons more relevant?

It's not random at all. When you highlight your weapon or are modding your weapon, the stats screen that has all of the crits and status' and all of that has a stat that literally says "Trigger".

If the gun has Semi, and only a Semi mode, as the mod itself describes, it'll fit in it.

If it's Charge or Burst or Auto or has a permanent secondary mode to it with a Trigger type that isn't Semi, as the mod describes, it won't.

Not to mention the setting to turn semi-automatic weapons into full-autos. This setting has no human-error pace, it is flawlessly full fire rate, which makes anyone not using it a fool. While "semi" weapons are capped to 10 fire rate, Burst weapons and more with a semi-trigger are uncapped, letting them far surpass any realistic human input with the new setting.

Meanwhile plenty of weapons exist with semi-automatic triggers that are not explicitly listed as "Semi". They include many burst weapons, charge weapons and active weapons. Only from those categories do Battacor (Listed as Auto-Burst) Tenet Ferrox (Charge trigger sub-types are not distringuished in-game, but it an auto-release and auto-trigger, the only of its type) and the Simulors (Auto-trigger with an active detonation, placement limit, and expiration.) use auto-triggers. But weapons like Quartakk, Drakgoon, Kulstar, are all practically semi-automatic already. They do not automatically re-trigger, yet they are not cannonade applicable.

Also meanwhile, weapons such as Exergis, Vectis and Tonkor can use the cannonade mods, which don't care about fire rate anyways! Two of these uniquely ignore fire rate as a special mechanic, while tonkor can ignore it with manual reload inputs. These weapons mod for Reload speed as if nothing has changed.

 

There is no more spirit or consistency to these mods, let them apply to all weapons with the fire-rate restriction, and make them cap reload speed too.

I did not know abut that, this is so silly and makes the distinction irrelevant and it should be about fire rate.

Very well then, I see your point, but that means that there's a category of weapons that may never see mods because it fits in both fields, even if it does not perform well.

Pretty much my issue with this, the new mods give something that feels a huge boost and are allowed on the weapons that tend to have less complexity and are straightforward.

Hopefully a toned down equivalent for weapons with altfires comes eventually.

Because the completely unrelated primary version is full auto.

I'm not even joking. Chances are it's exactly that.

I can't put the Semi-pistol cannonade on the vasto prime and that's semi and doesn't have any alt fire.

Except it has an incarnon form that has Burst fire. Even if you don't have access to it.
