Learn about how to earn Mastery rank XP : by leveling up new gear from level 0 to 30, especially MK1 weapons at start.

Learn about Affinity range around yourself, to get the XP produced by teammates.

Learn about how the XP is divided on your gear depending how the kill is made.

Avoid the Sanctuary Onslaught as an XP pit which is going to destroy your game experience and drop you no ressources and no mods.

Learn how to mine, fish, and hunt in the three open worlds, giving you valuable ressource you'll need for your progression.

And most importantly, set yourself your own objectives, and try to have as much fun as possible when trying to reach them your way.
