HoneyChonker Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Steve was halfway through reading this suggestion on a dev short but it hit the 15 minute timer :( We've all been there, we have several loadouts intricately crafted for various game modes of niche situations. We have various frames, weapons, pets and configs combined together. Then, just before bed, we see a Meso Capture is up so we run a few. We run a quick mission with a friend and switch out a bane mod. We need 10 fish guts so we get the oxylus out. Over the course of the days/weeks/months our loadouts drift apart and end up a mess, to the point some people just wont use them anymore (especially bane mods) My suggestion is to add a small, optional checkbox to each loadout that says "lock this loadout" which would prevent any changes to that specific loadout until you unchecked the box. 3
Zakkhar Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Erm, what I do: Every setup that needs to not change is saved as that particular setup and I do not change anything on it. If I want to use something mixed I use one of two Casual slots and mix and match however I want (one of those slots I use every week for EDA and pretty much everything changes). As for bane switching just use ABC setups.

I try to have 1 or 2 loadouts that i keep for "random" stuff but i think it would be insane QOL to just be able to lock some of the ones you know will never change and then not have to worry about it ever
Numerounius Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 (edited) How would this work for Archwing loadouts, K-drives and Necramechs? That would be a mess if we somehow get fifteen improvements to loadouts yet not a single one touches any aspect to the back half of loadouts at all. Seriously can we please get some attention to that half of loadout management please? This would be a godsend if we could lock vehicles to loadouts. I go to level up a new archgun that is released and when I get around to doing that content again I realize I am stuck with a leveling build even though I am purposefully not using my leveling loadout since vehicles never change unless you manually adjust them. HoneyChonker Posted October 30, 2024 Author Posted October 30, 2024 I know it's not a "i can't play the game without this QOL" but for example i have a Smeeta that doesn't have Fetch on him (for my mirage Explosive Legerdemain) and 99 times out of 100 i'll double check before hand but that 1 time out of 100 i forget i still have it just feels bad and i feel an optional checkbox would solve that 1
Voltage Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 As much as I support QoL, I also want to keep in mind potential development resources. I feel like this issue is already solved with loadout slots given the abundance of them. It is currently at a max of 60. How many specific loadouts can you realistically cycle through that constantly? As an example with your Mirage, you can have a specific ESO DPS loadout with that companion setup. I have several loadouts specific to recurring events that stay unused for 99% of the year until the event returns (Credit Weekends for Profit-Taker, Plague Star, Nights of Naberus, etc.). I've just never personally ran into this situation to be quite honest. I always have so many extra loadout spaces or ones I have used so infrequently that I can override them with something more up to date.

My issue isnt with the number of loadout slots, in fact more loadout slots actually exacerbate the problem. My issue is its easy to accidently change those loadouts, defeating the purpose. leading to a lot of my friends just not using loadouts and changing things all the time. If i make a change to a loadout its forever "ruined" until i change it back (usually when you're already in a mission and realise) Sure the problem is "solved" by being super extra dilligent, always checking your loadout is correct and never, ever, ever making any changes to a loadout, or if you do, always remember to change it back. Whats the point in having a loadout if i have to mentally double check i have the right pet etc beforehand? But surely an optional checkbox that "locks" a loadout would be nice to have overall? 1
