damongautama Posted November 30 Posted November 30 Remember a while back when WF made things like Steel Essence and Riven Slivers despawn after a while because players were waiting for Smeeta's Charm to stack a few times? I imagine they removed the despawn now that there is no advantage to waiting, but don't have any confirmation of this. Does anyone know for sure that Steel Essence and Riven Slivers stick around forever now once they drop?
TummyLover Posted November 30 Posted November 30 I don’t recall them ever reverting it, so I’d assume they still despawn tbh 2
(PSN)haphazardlynamed Posted November 30 Posted November 30 ?what would be the point in reverting it? despawning improves game performance and there's no motive for players to let stuff sit around now; so it should be a non-issue for you to pick things up as they drop. So why worry? unless you're using an AFK bot and can't be bothered to move around to collect things.

I find this a lot with Void Cascade and Disruption, and sometimes with Survival. When I see something drop, I'd rather keep concentrating on the objectives, and get to the loot when I get to it. Especially with Void Cascade, a player in the forward group might not naturally get back to a drop location in the rear group for 6 or 7 Exolizers. 2

(PSN)Lollybomb Posted November 30 Posted November 30 Did they add the despawn because people were trying to take advantage of smeeta, or was it just something that was always there, and people just complained that they kept running into the standard cleanup routines that keep the game from having to remember 10,000 items for no good reason? Because I could have sworn it was always a thing, just most people never noticed it.

Both it was always there, but it was longer. when dumb people complained about despawning drops after waiting Way Too Long for a Smeeta buff; that put it on DE's Radar that people were abusing it. So DE took a hard stance and explicitly made it 5 minutes.
