FACTS:

 

1. Katanas were folded millions of times by the greatest Japanese swordsmiths which are the best in the world.

2. Each Katana is personalized to the warrior and imbued with decades of prayer before they can be used.

3. Katanas are made out of the HARDEST METAL KNOWN TO MAN and studies have shown to be about 7000 times harder than diamond, the second strongest metal known to man.

4. In WW II, Katanas accounted for 90% of Japan's tank kills against American Shermans, because the speed of the katana leaving its sheath (by a technique called iato) creates a vacuum so powerful it slices the tanks in half from miles away.

5. If you lay a masterwork katana down in a quiet room and say a prayer to Muramasa, you can faintly hear "Through Fire and Flames" by Dragnoforce emanating from the vibrations in the blade.

Mmhm. I did that last one... It's true!

Call it the Rasputin Custom, fresh from a secretive master bladesmith Tenno, in hiding from the Grineer head-hunters who seek to end both Rasputin, and his ancient blade forging technique.

 

And link a rescue Rasputin event to unlocking the Rasputin Armory!  Why should Darvo have all the fun?

One possibility is to have a draw slash as the first melee attack in the combo, it could also be added into the charge attack (sheath it and prepare for the killing blow, so to speak) and/or simply have a (somewhat) flashy flourish when putting the sword away.

 

Or, if you want to get into the cliche, katana-wielding characters of various games and shows, parts of the combo could cause you to sheath the sword before making another attack. Because it makes sense, yes?

also they could make it so when you sheath the sword as your first attack it could be 2 or 3 times faster and 2 times stronger than when you just charge and swing your katana giving it a new mechanism as well. since you have to wait for your warframe to put the sword back into the sheath it cant be spamed  

 

it could be used for those tight situations where you get surrounded and just open that sword of yours and everything is just cut in half lol

So it's a Katana in that the Tenno would wear it in a certain way (seriously the term katana refers to the way it was worn and how the smiths signature was placed on it) and not a Katana in being a replica of the old fashioned Samurai swords of feudal japan?

 

It looks like a combination of Skana design with the heat blade technology of the Grineer.

 

Actualy that would be a sweet replacement for the current Plasma Sword design.

 

Too bad we can't switch to melee as a direct attack style, otherwise it would certainly be a cool idea to give it a unique animation style in which the Tenno keeps it sheated in one hand and only pulls it out for quick strikes. Though i think that was traditionaly done with a straight sword.

 

That's certainly a good effort you put into that design.
