Doforcash
mostly on Infester defend (and occasionally some other mission) when using Vauban Vortex on wave 7- # higher, Vortex star to make my Laptop performance become VERY SLOWWLY. This isn't just a Host lag because we're playing just fine in a few wave, but when wave 7, when using Vortex, it make everything so Glitchy, me and my teammate can't barely move (even the host himself, which isn't me). Worse part it's i can see my Ping became Exactly 10.00 while the Vortex is activated. Please help, my Vauban is sad D:

Letter13
im a Laptop sucker...so if my information is wrong, please tell em to fix it ASUS corei5-3337U-1,8HGz Your CPU... seems a bit... I dunno. I have an i5 and I have no problems, but mine is clocked at 2.5GHz. What's your GPU? RAM Capacity/Speed? Also have you tried verufying game files and enabling/disabling launcher settings like DX11, 64-Bit and Multithreaded rendering? If they're currently disabled, try enabling them, or if they're currently enabled, try disabling them. Also make sure you disable Tesselation in the settings, as that's incredibly tasking. BoomyGordo
This is and isn't a hardware issue. Mine does the same but only when there are a high amount of enemies in the vortex and I will explain why and what is going on. When vauban's vortex is spawned it will suck in enemies and do constant damage to them and then pretty much delete the ragdoll's of dead enemies that are in it. This is a good preventive measure on DE's part to keep performance robbing physics collisions as low as possible. BUT at the same time to pull enemies in it first ragdolls them and then pulls them into the vortex. If the enemy is not dead that ragdoll will spaz around in the vortex and if there are alot of enemies in the vortext it doesn't matter what computer you run you WILL get performance drops from the sheer amount of physics calculations going on for them. As much as I would like to suggest DE make ragdolls noclip through each other in vortext you run into the problem of overlapping hit boxes and then how to unragdoll the enemies that are not killed when vortex ends so I have no idea what to do about it. Anyway there you are.
Phoenix86
I confirm what the guy above me said, having the same performance issue, altought not after so few waves, a bit later (after 15ish generally)
Doforcash
RAM Capacity/Speed? Kamal965
I have drops in FPS as well, and a lot of times, it makes my host crash when I drop more than one Vortex. Not to mention that Vortex also starts to affect the players once they start lagging.

Methanoid
vortex could be improved by only actually rendering 1 of each mobtype in the vortex to lessen the FPS hit, if theres 15 toxic ancients swirling around, we dont need to see all 15, just 1, if theres 15 ancients, 15 crawlers and 15 disruptors in there, its best if a max of 1 of each is "displayed" swirling while inside the vortex. Methanoid
on a side note, when ive modded vauban for massive bastilles, ive often lost conn to whoever is hosting when inside OD Defence recently, didnt even have a FPS hit my end but still had myself and 1-2 others drop fron the host, this only occurs when ive been tossing out mega sized bastilles, which i only started doing so i didnt have to use vortexes which were doing the same thing to the host. Dalamian
I have this same issue Im usually running between 55-60 FPS, but the second a vortex goes down after say wave 12 in a defense mission, my framerate tanks to about 10 FPS, it never does this any other time except when there is a vortex down. Also I gotta say to a few people in this thread, low FPS does not equal lag, lag is latency issues which is the quality of your connection to the host and vice versa, when you stand over top of a mod drop and it takes 15 seconds to get picked up, that's lag. Back on topic, im also running a fairly fresh install of windows as well, I formatted about two weeks ago. Here are my specs, in hopes a Dev will see this. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 12/7/2013, 19:48:47 Machine name: CHRIS-PC Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Gateway System Model: FX6840 BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: Intel® Core i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.9GHz Memory: 8192MB RAM Available OS Memory: 8184MB RAM Page File: 4876MB used, 11488MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11 DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: Using System DPI System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7600.16385 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ Display Tab 1: No problems found. Kalizy
not only vortex sucks enemies, but it also sucks the FPS :S i think it is because of using many times
BoomyGordo
-snip- dude put that in a spoiler or can a mod please do so? Also Lag can refer to frame rate drop or connection latency. Its used as a general term for poor performance in gaming. Also I explained what is happening and what is causing it.
KazumaGER
dude put that in a spoiler or can a mod please do so? Also Lag can refer to frame rate drop or connection latency. Its used as a general term for poor performance in gaming. Also I explained what is happening and what is causing it. "Lag" is used in reference to video games to describe the delay (or latency) between an action by a player and the reaction of the game. This has nothing to do with frameratedrops... also in the title it says "ping" - which is not the case just saying :P but yeah that horrible situation when a vauban vortex sucks too many enemies is ridiculous... it worked before just fine... dunno what DE did there. framerate is dropping to 1 fps... (just 1 fps because its the lowest number it can show... in reality it's even worse :D)
MysticalMoo
Noticed this today on an infestation mission the magnetic pull was literally causing my fps to drop to 3fps with frame time of 300ms. Now i dont have a super fast system but normally i run around 90-110fps on missions. whatever you guys did has sure broken the gfx in this game regarding that ability. Aarnwulf
I cannot run Vauban with clan-mates, as of Damage 2.0. Bastille and/or vortex cause either (a) host migrations - splitting up the group or (b) players have the game client crash. This issue did not exist before damage 2.0 for the same players. We were running missions together both before and after. Now we simply cannot include Vauban in the group load-out for any mission.
