SuicidalSnorlax
I dont know if it's just me, but I think that the way that loot is presented to you is absolute horse poop! There are so many other games that making looting somthing fun, exciting, and even epic. For example, SW:TOR (star wars: the old republic) has a large colored beam eminating from the dead person's chest. Often times its, blue/cyan, representing trash items but sometimes its magenta; and anyone who has played that game and come across that majestical beam has had that little child in their head say "WOOAAHH! WHAT'S THAT!?!?!" Another one would be Diablo's simple yet effective item name coloration. That simple change of color, the mundane white to legendary orange, also sparks that little child excitedness in every gamer. I can see where this game is trying to go. It shares an odd similarity to Borderland's loot; that itsy-bitsy, patetic little light that changes color depending on item rarity. The thing is, its ok with Borderlands because Borderlands uses it's outragously unique design of guns to attract its players towards the loot and just uses the little light as the cherry ontop. Here's where I think this game can do better. Instead of making it as simple as Borderlands, why not make it unique to Warframe. I mean Warframe is on of, if not, the best Sci-fi mmorpgs out there; so why not make it even more outragously awesome. I propose that you change the loot drop design regularly in CB and see what the playerbase deems to be "Tanno Quality" (See what I did there? xD). To be perfectly clear, I'm not saying "Disable" idea sharing between games. I'm saying leave it "Limitedly Enabled" and take the good traits of another games loot mechanic and merge it with Warframes. I'll list some of my ideas down below. Also, anyone who has an idea is free to post as a reply (Dont be stupid and say somthing like, "Why dont you just have the loot come out of their asses. Doyyuuhhh").Just be sure to make it clear that you're posting an idea and not commenting on my horrid post. =) Idea No.1- Have the loot pulse with color. For example, an armor mod will be pinging with color based upon its rarity. A blue colored mod will be pulsing with, similar to a submarines sonar. Also have a symbol tell the player what kind of mod it is, pistol, shotgun, rifle, melee, etc. Idea No. 2- This one is alot simpler to do. I'm not a game dev or anything, but common sense says it would be easier to program somthing like this. And that would be to just simply surround the item with an sci-fi looking aura. Making it distinguishable from the surrounding area. Thats where the current Loot-Drop model is faulty. Also have an symbol or some kind of way differentciate the different types of items. Idea No. 3- Is a mixture of both 1 and 2... I'm sorry, my creative juices are fried.. its midnight and I've been playing this game all day. Hopefully someone with a litle bit more creative complexity will come up with an even more Grand and Epic idea. ~SuicidalSnorlax~ p.s. I don't normally write this much. In fact I dont normally write at all, so sorry in advance for any errors that I've made. Edited January 4, 2013 by SuicidalSnorlax
Ced23Ric
Nope. Let's not put the lazy Skinner Box abuse of random loot into this game beyond what is already there.
SuicidalSnorlax
To be honest, I would rather have somthing lazy but visable. I've missed so many crafting mats and mods because of how poorly they're displayed to the player. Especially in places that have alot of lighting effects the basically blend out all the mods to the background. Like I said before, I would prefer lazy but visable of decent but unseen. GenericBadGuy
He isn't asking for more randomness I think, just flashier loot that makes everyone want to dive onto it with glee like opening a Christmas present. Nothing wrong with that - I think a lot of item drops could use re-worked graphics. I cannot tell one ammo type from another and its possible to miss mod drops.
