Pendragon1951 Posted January 28, 2014 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Before I go into the things that don't make sense, lets examine what a Warframe actually is, according to the wiki they are exoskeletons used in the Warframe universe. They protect the wearer with regenerating shields while allowing him or her to use special abilities such as faster movement speed, higher jumping heights or control over elemental forces. I think the key point here is "control over elemental forces". The first most obvious thing that makes no sense is why would a Warframe like Ember or Frost be effected by either fire or cold damage since they have "control over elemental forces"? The next thing, why do the Tenno fight? The short answer would be to keep balance in the universe. The actual answer would be, why should they, it's obvious both the Grineer and Corpus are evil, which leads to another thing that makes no sense. Why would the Grineer be fighting the Corpus when it is them they do trade and buy from, that's like cutting off your own food supply. Getting back to the Tenno if anything they should be trying to tip the balance of the faction they believe might win, then turn around and war on them. It's not pretty but it is war. Because you can't just let evil roam and decimate everything as it sees fit. Why do Grineer fight Corpus if they trade with them? You don't have to trade if the people that are holding the resources you want are dead. You keep what you have, and get what you want at the same time. That's not "cutting off your own food supply"; that's removing the barrier that's keeping you from your food. Maintaining balance is best. If the Tenno sit back and watch the universe turn itself inside out, the winning faction will come out with too many resources and technology, leading to a much harder fight compared to simply attacking while both enemy factions are weak, spread thin, or otherwise preoccupied. It's kind of hard to say who's evil and who isn't. They're the two major superpowers. Right now we're sort of keeping the balance so that neither side grows too strong, because if one side dominates the solar system then they'd focus solely on the Tenno. Why would the Grineer be fighting the Corpus when it is them they do trade and buy from, that's like cutting off your own food supply. Although their relationship is clearly more belligerent, it's sort of like the relationship between the United States and China. While they're not in full-on war (it's more like splinter factions fighting against one another), they clearly have to engage in some forms of trade in order to survive. Everyone wants balanced weapons, and balanced frames, and balanced this and that. Some things should be out of balance, because that's more realistic. Without globe, I don't think I would ever play Frost. He's slow, his other abilities aren't great, so he should have a special ability to not be effected by Ice. Skyblazer Posted January 28, 2014 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Well, "control over elemental forces" doesn't necessarily imply "immunity to elemental forces," in the same way that "control over a firearm" doesn't imply immunity to bullets. Like other people have pointed out, things are a bit more complicated when it comes to diplomatic relations between the two factions. One important thing to note is that neither faction appears to be in control of its subordinates -- witness Sargas Ruk, who runs a "profitable artifact smuggling business." Who do you think he's smuggling them from? The Grineer. Alad V isn't even a part of the mainline Corpus Faction any more. From the Grineer's statements in Operation Slingstone, its obvious that the Grineer think the Corpus are trying to cheat them. The Corpus, as descendants of the Orokin("given their heritage" - Captain Vor), think the Grineer are a lower form of life ("Dogs") and are furious at attempts to bully them into compliance ("We don't have to be their slaves any longer" - Alad V). The balance thing is a little weird, but bear in mind that the Tenno probably can't win against whichever faction takes over. Also, remember that the Tenno aren't the only ones who will exploit the opportunity created by a power vacuum in the Solar System... there's still the infested, who are arguably the worst of the lot. When framed with these facts things get a little easier. The corpus want to exploit those people and the grineer want to enslave them. The Tenno are small and weak in comparison to the juggernauts so the only choice they have is to keep the two forces in constant stalemate to keep them from focusing on either themselves or their charges. Things are getting a little out of whack with the detron and how people are farming that, but something Steve said makes me think that this was intentional and that they are setting up "grave consequences" to befall the galaxy. Here we go. -Corpus can magically suck away oxygen from an open area -Phobos is hot (Its not!) - Jupiters gravity should have shrunk the gas cities into tiny matter -Mars has water! -Mercury Grineer still arent liquid And that was only the planets part Flamethrower with 1% proc! -A frozen outposts is sometimes frozen, affecting shields, and sometimes not, while still having the same weather - Grineer are able to poison a whole planet, but not those pesky Desert skates - We're Space Ninja's! How would you even define a space ninja!? -Bosses die over and over and over again! Do I have to continue?
