I love the icons.

 

Friendlies are still a little big though. Haven't been in an exterminate/on banshee/enemy radar to see what it's like against enemies though

 

Just played with the new enemy markers. Not bad!. Still might be a little big but leagues better than they were.

I was finishing the nightmare alert as the 12.0.4 hotfix was deployed (not the 12.0.4.1 one :D ), and for a strange reason I two fortitude mods in the mission extraction summary. I checked to see if that was just a display bug... but nope, it wasn't. I'm going to see if I can file a ticket about that, but if someone reads this already, please remove the illegal copy from my inventory (the unranked one, I maxed out the other as I got it), because I do not even want to get the credits for selling something I should not have owned in the first place.

 

Other than that, are you soon done playing russian roulette with the minimap? It bewilders me how you could not have realized the low quality of the new HUD's minimap before seeding the patch.

Minimap icons are still too big and are still not quite as sleek as the rest of the HUD is. New tile outlines are too hard and bright, swallowing containers. Diversity and visibility is still pretty awkward, for a revamp of the minimap.

 

The markers are better now, yes, but the borders are a bit too white to let the white containers properly pop out. And I am irritated by the fact of you throwing around funny designed symbols, but still didn't think of making a distinction between containers and other obtainable drops.

The extraction point being green now and the target waypoint yellow is helping, and you already did a step in the right direction by having them designed differently so they can overlap better. The overlap still is too small. In Survival missions, the yellow marker overlapping the green extraction only lets two small green dots be visible. Increase the size of the extraction pointer and have both shapes stand in more geometric contrast to each other.

 

Once again I am asking myself... why does everything have to be fancy shmancy? The visibility is for the birds and the white higher/lower markers are hard to distinguish because they are docked directly at the icon. And despite the fancyness, you didn't want to put oxygen drops on the minimap and keep them onscreen points only? They do not even show up with Thief's Wit.

The old UI did a good job with indicating base things like enemy, ally and pick-ups. Granted, there was improvement to be done but why do I need to have ridiculously sized markers now with the weirdest shapes imaginable?

My nobrain suggestion:

 

Enemy: red dot.

NPC ally: green dot.

Player ally: blue dot.

Hostage: blue cross.

Container: white square

Mod / Resource / Oxygen: yellow dot.

Mission waypoint: yellow diamond shaped thingie

Player waypoint: orange X

Extraction: green blinking circle, large enough to be BIGGER than the diamond shaped waypoint so they both fit together.

 

And that was written with zero thought behind it. I am sure with more reasoning, one might come up using base shapes to indicate certain entities. Like... dots are always players / npcs --> "moving things".

Squares or crosses are always destructibles / different types of loot --> "staying things".

Markers would be "fancy things". Hostage would become a mission waypoint sign.

Throw in colours accordingly.

 

That being said; the indicators ON SCREEN are pretty good and I like them very much. It is just the minimap that has me sit here flabbergasted, wondering my merry way between here and there.

NO! The markers suck now... Please just put in different "Styles" and let us select based on our preference. You are not going to please everyone, obviously, so just let people choose instead of taking stuff away.

I don't think they suck. They're different. But I agree that having the option to alter them ourselves rather than the art assets being overwritten again and again would be nice. Also thanks for continuing to work on it.

DE this is not meant unkindly but i found this bugs in only 10 minutes, please , please rly test ur hotfixes and little updates bevore u release it

thank you for the fixes ^^ but still I do like the old HUD ingame better because it was clear, matched the menu HUD etc, this one is just....naked and sorry to say... *flimsy* made (just an honest opinion, no offense intended)

 

I love the sentinel shield and health displayed, so old HUD with the new info on it would be absolutely fantastic!

And make it so you can select stay/leave on defense with A and D again.

For the longest time, there was an unanimous agreement in the forums that A and D should never affect the stay/leave on defense to begin with. Did you even see the tonnes of forum posts complaining about people accidentally choosing the wrong thing just because they were typing in the chat?

You are the first person I have ever heard of thinking that's a good idea.

Can we just get a toggle between new UI and pre-u12 UI? It seems like having that option wouldn't be but so hard to implement and would ease some of the push to make the new UI perfect quicker allowing some more time to tweak around with the new UI setup without alienating players that cannot stand the new UI.

 

Either way thankyou DE for the immense amount of fixes and patches over such a short amount of time.  Doesn't seem that often that you will see this much dedication to the fanbase from other games around today.
