thelastpwnr99
Hey all. I don't know if it's just me who does this but the main reason I purchase Immortal Skins is to override the Orokin implants on my Primes so I can have a variety of looks for them. This has always worked on all three of the Primes I've owned. In this recent hotfix, DE removed the overriding qualities of the Ember Immortal skin. I JUST finished Ember Prime and worked very hard to make a palette that would work well when her skin came out, applied the skin, and I loved how she looked with the Orokin parts recolored. I started playing today and, lo and behold, that's no longer a thing. Am I the only one confused and dissapointed about how the other three Primes are entirely able to look like the non-Prime varient, but Ember cannot? Criticism encouraged (but I miss my colors). ToT-Fenrir-ToT
i can see what you mean. but an option for the gold trim would be cool i think cuz i dont like the color scheme of frost prime but i like the gold trim, so the immortal with gold would be cool. HillsAndTheSea
i agree. i sometimes just want the flaming chicken head without all the extra gold bits, i hope DE revists this at least
CaptainPeanut
While I do find it a bit odd that they decided it was a good idea to give Ember Prime her gold trim with the immortal skin, but leave the other Prime's to be recolored, I like the idea of the Prime's retaining their golden parts, as that's more or less the only thing that makes them unique from the non-Prime versions. Having the option to have a gold trim or not is always good though. Options are nice.
Vargras
Ember Prime and Mag Prime were both fixed to still show gold components with Immortal skins (also because pre-fix, the Immortal skin looks pretty bad on Ember Prime). Excalibur Prime and Frost Prime are a texture issue and will be changed at a later date. You're not escaping it, sorry.

thelastpwnr99
Thanks, sorry about that. As for the rest of you, I now understand that it is eventually going to be changed so all of them are not overridden...but in the future, I believe the ability to toggle Orokin trimming would be nice, since we spent so long farming for the Prime counterparts of the frames, we shouldn't have to go and downgrade to get a look we want. Noogums
Ember's gold parts being covered was a bug. It's the same for the others, too, however Excalibur and Frost's gold parts are not separate, while Ember's (And I think Mag's), are. So this means it was easier for them to fix Ember's gold bits with Immortal skins, and this was due to a large amount of players requesting it.I assume Frost and Excally will get it when the materials have been separated. Just out of curiosity, though.. If you don't like the gold, why do you use the Primes?
AlienOvermind
I think Ember Prime and Mag Prime Immortal skins are good. They retain some gold parts, so warframes are recognizable as Primes, but they offer more space for color customisation, than default Prime skins. I hope DE wont bring all gold parts from default skins to Immortal ones. Edited March 1, 2014 by AlienOvermind
Aikurisu
Just out of curiosity, though.. If you don't like the gold, why do you use the Primes? Several reasons. Let me explain. First. Prime warframes are considered end tier variants of their normal designs. Why would I want to throw forma at a normal variant if I have the prime version? It is wasteful to increase the mod capacity of both frames and primes make a better choice for running void missions with, too. They also initially have different polarity setups. Second. Some don't look the same as their normal counterparts. Ember's Prime has a sleeker design and has a different setup for colour customisation, allowing for different (and better imo) colour options. However, with the gold trim, colour options are pretty limited. Third. Alternate helmets. They are not Prime, therefore they clash with the gold trim. You end up with a Frankenstein for the most part and Ember Prime is another case in point, but so is Excalibur Prime or any other primes whose gold trim travels along the neck. In order to try and get alternate helmets to at least look remotely good with the gold trim, you have to make it remotely gold as well and so on, again limiting colour options. Fourth. More customisation, more reason for me to give DE money for new immortal skins and new colour palettes. Enforcing the gold trim is a bad idea overall, imo, since not only are immortal skins less desirable, so are new colour palette sets when some just don't look good with the gold trim. Seriously, DE, what you've done is marketing suicide for a lot of potential buyers, right? I'm glad I held off buying EP's immortal skin, because with the gold trim becoming a mandatory thing now, I'd have asked for my platinum back. But hey, you can't please everyone unless you give folks the option to change the gold trim as a separate colour option, because currently you're just taking away what quite a few of your players were excited to see. I'm not saying I'm angry or anything, btw. Just disappointed. =/ Edited March 1, 2014 by Aikurisu
Noogums
Stuff Fair reasons for playing as the Primes, I can accept that. I don't think what they've done can be called "Marketing suicide", however.. Most people who get the Prime Warframes are aware of the gold. The Developers never said that the Immortal skins were going to be a way to cover up the gold, so I'm personally not sure why people are so shocked that they don't. The fact that they did at one point, and some still do, is because they are still in development, like the rest of the game. It was just a work-in-progress thing. I can understand people wanting to get rid of it for customization purposes, though. But they were never intended to do what people are disappointed that they don't do.. AlienOvermind
But they were never intended to do what people are disappointed that they don't do.. But hey, they removed gold parts for Ex/Frost/Mag Immortal skins. And they havent fixed that for a long time, so people may have decided it was intended. That's why people are dissappointed now. Er... no, it's been stated in the past that Immortal skins covering up gold parts on Primes was never intended. It actually was fixed for Mag already (for the most part, gold still shows up on Mag Prime and Ember Prime). It hasn't been fixed yet for Excalibur and Frost because the gold is directly part of the body texture, instead of being seperate like Mag and Ember.
