Aikurisu
So the players are pretty divided on this one. Some really liked the idea that the immortal skin for Ember Prime removed her gold trim, while others somewhat complained. So all things in a nutshell, you can't please everyone. I realise this and want to be neutral about what happened, but I was disappointed that Ember's gold trim became mandatory. I count myself lucky that I didn't buy her immortal skin when I was inclined to do so while the 'unintentional override' was in effect. Now I'm paranoid that DE will do the same for the other Primes. Why? I like being able to hide the gold trim. I like being able to use the alternate helms of some frames and not have a Frankenstein on my hands, unless I limit my colour options significantly. The debate that players who don't want the gold trim should use only normal frames is not a sane compromise either when some frames, especially Ember Prime, are different enough artistically to make them better than their originals. Also, can this issue extend to weapon Primes, since skins you can buy from the market affect them, too? So back to not being able to please everyone. Well, why not consider this possible solution? Give players the simple option to change the gold trim with an independent colour option related only to the trim. That way everyone will get what they want and from a business perspective you may potentially increase your ingame store's revenue with colour palette sets, weapon and immortal skins and possibly even alternate helmet sales, simply by offering this extra customisation. Yet is all this feasible? I'm not sure what hoops the design team would have to jump through to make this happen so I'll understand if it's not technically possible to give the gold trim an independent colour box. That said, however, I do hope it's been considered. Also, as a work around for players who want to revert back to the gold trim, but have changed the colour to something else, simply assign it as the default colour? Sure, I realise that it would override the rest of the colouring customisation they've done but I also know there is currently no true metallic gold colour among the colour sets, so this might also be the solution for that? Anyway, thank you for your time. =) Edited March 1, 2014 by Aikurisu
Genoscythe
I think more customization isnt a bad idea, also most primes look quite bad with the standard colors I use + the gold, would be nice to be able to recolor the trim, those who like it can keep it, those who dont can change it. JohnProdman
It has nothing to do with what the players want. The artist who developed the primes has the final say in the matter, and they don't approve of the gold portions being overidden with other colors. Can you find him/her/them quoting said disapproval, then? Would appreciate it. =)

I thought DE listens to what the community has to say? I don't know why anyone (even the artist) would be against more customization.

I don't know why anyone (even the artist) would be against more customization. From a lore perspective, I might be able to understand why they may not be willing to allow this kind of customisation, but given all the other crazy antics I've seen over a year of playing Warframe, (like bright pink Nekros', Rhinos, and so on...), would it really hurt DE to allow this additional minor customisation that might even help mend the player community's divide on this issue at least? Noogums
As I've said in the Art & Animation Hot Topics, and has been said around this forum, metallic colour palettes and the ability to change Prime Trim colour are not likely going to be added.Mostly because the shaders behind the metallic material don't support custom colours.PS: Promise I'm not trying to kill your buzz.. Just engaging in the discussion. Edited March 1, 2014 by Noogums

Still, we've seen the immortal skins override the metallic material, so it can be done even if the side effect is that it removes the metallic finish. I figure a lot of folks including myself would be comfortable with such a compromise, if you can call it that. thelastpwnr99
This man. I like him. I agree that DE probably doesn't think that this is a good idea, but after having giving the majority of players a glimpse at the possibilities of toggling the trim, I think they could at least take some time to throw an "on/off" button in there in the next couple updates. Zkorp
Maybe they could let us the choice to get silver (real one, not gray) instead of pure gold. The Gold is very unconfortable to mix with some colour palette. Silver is precious too and can match better with previous equipements. I don't really agree to be able to make the gold trim pink or whatever, a prime frame need some distinction.
