N00B Questions - Controls And Mod Slots

How do you block on keyboard? I think i've seen people do it with their melee weapons but I don't remember seeing any button mapping for it (there is a block button right?)

Also, for the mod slots on gear, the funny little icon in the top right corner that makes matching mods take up half the points, what determins what items have them? Can there be 2 copies of the same item, but have a different combination of mod slot types?

Every Braton will have the same polarity slots (which are none), every Afuris will have the same, every Rhino will have the same, so no they're not random.

As for melee blocki button, check you options, keybindings. Default (for me at least) was Mouse Button 4 8whcih I don't have so I changed it)
