(Sort Of) Impossible Escort

I was doing the first few missions on the game and came across the first one where you escort a hostage out. Everything was going fine till I came to a spot where to progress I had to jump on some boxes and through a hole in the ceiling. I eventually figured out where I was supposed to go, but the guy I was escorting apparently couldn't jump and thus was stuck. It still let me finish the level even though I had left him behind so it wasn't a big problem, but it a bit of an oddity.

Yeah. The hostage gets stuck a lot. You can always finish the level though as long as the hostage survives until you leave.

I had one hostage that was stuck against a wall. I managed to shove him over far enough to an opening that he was able to find a route again.

It seems like (sometimes?) they latch onto one player and follow them, but if that player is running quite quickly then the hostage may just be left behind or be unable to find their way.

If they were just attracted to the nearest player with some hysteresis then anyone could lead them.
