achieving X points to get your reward wouldn't vaporize if the Event as a whole fails. so you'd still get your shiny diamonds most likely. just the game would drastically change (hopefully).

 

Oh yes, of course. But the way the events works right now, I still don't think it is really possible to "lose" any. There's just too many people playing this and going after rewards. And then people who already completed the event do it again to help their friends or simply because they liked the missions.

 

DE would probably need to do something like you described. An event that gives you rewards long before it is actually "won". But I don't know if that would be much fun.
