mogamu
Black Market Game Mode Designed by Mogamu / Balanced by Stolen_ID tl:dr With the amount of players increasing that hit a high mastery level, that get frustrated by the lack of content aimed at those players, there seems to be a need for a harder game mode. This game mode should offer fair and predictable yet unique rewards. The system is partially inspired by games like Diablo where weapon stats are random to a certain degree and will challenge players due to a high level cap. This game mode has several goals: -Offer a (very) hard game mode for long-term, high mastery players -Give players their own “mission creation” tools outside of alerts and invasions. -Create a unique tier of weapons from previous, older, under-used weapons -Replayablity of tilesets (been to phobos lately? of course not) -Enforcing proper party building and teamplay. (Crap that was hard, anyone have a Trinity?) -Putting a use to powerful weapons that need a challenge. (My Soma kills everything, Bad Soma!) Summary The player builds mission keys in their foundry. The player will require a new resource, the “Schematics”, which will be obtained in crafting non-stationary "Intel" mission types like capture, extermination etc. Players then acquire blueprints in the "Depot" difficult high level Defense Mission. Depending on the teams mastery ranks (details below), they will get higher quality blueprints but also harder missions. Rewards are weapon blueprints. rarity varies between two tiers. The blueprint creates positive and negatively affected stats that are random upon crafting. To craft the blueprint an original of the weapon is required, therefore the players can aim on creating an improved version of an existing weapon, instead of it being randomly decided which type of weapon the blueprint will result in. Lore Darvo “Tenno this war has been raging so long, i think it's time for me to do more arms trading. Luckily, soldiers have been fighting for so long, they've begun to modify their standard weapons. I tried to buy them...but they don't like me selling their ideas to their enemies. ...So suspicious find a few good ones for me, and I may be willing to show you how to build new weapons out of your old dusty ones. And I don't want you trading with other tenno, this is between us. And don't tell the ‘Weed’, she’s too uptight about this kind of stuff. This is the way it works.” “I have 2 data disks for you. Intel discs reveal locations where enemies are carrying weapon schematics on the them. Depot discs reveal locations to VIP's selfishly protecting the blueprints” Combine your oldest outdated weapons with the new blueprints and schematics for nice new upgrades." “I have to warn you Tenno, you don't spend much time in the type of war zones where you might find a depot. Aggression is only met with more aggression. Your skills only motivate your enemies to fight harder. It is dangerous, even for you.” Mission Key Crafting "Depot discs" - 1 Depot Blueprint from market - 1 Control Module - 1000 Nano Spores - 1000 credits - 1 minute build time "Intel discs" - 1 Intel Blueprint from market - 1 Control Module - 500 Nano Spores - 500 credits - 1 minute build time Map Generation & Difficulty The keys result in slightly random missions. Naming convention: "Desert Depot Defense", i.e ... Defense on Phobos for a blueprint drop - Random tileset - Desert = Phobos - Frozen = Ice Planet - Starbound = corpus ship - Warship = Grineer Ship - Desolate Rock = Grineer Asteroid - Jungle = Earth - etc - Game modes - Depot = 10 wave defense + boss (only random tileset) - Intel = A random game mode (except defense), i.e. Capture, Exterminate, etc. Depot Difficulty Tier 1 - level 30 enemies, leaders rare to spawn Tier 2 - level 60 enemies, leaders uncommon to spawn Tier 3 - Level 70 enemies, leaders common to spawn Tier 4 - Level 100 enemies, leaders common to spawn * difficulty spike is based on the highest leveled Tenno in the squad Tier 1 - Highest player Rank 1-4 Tier 2 - Highest player Rank 5-9 Tier 3 - Highest player Rank 10+ Tier 4 - Every player is over rank 10 Mission Rewards Intel Reward Schematics, more for higher tiers. Depot Rewards Tier 1 - “Common Depot Blueprint” Tier 2 - “Uncommon” or “Common Depot Blueprint” Tier 3 - “Rare” or “Uncommon Depot Blueprint” Tier 4 - “Rare” or “Legendary Depot Blueprint” Blueprints can be sold for Schematics Weapons Guide Weapons stats by rarity Common + - Uncommon + Rare + + - Legendary + + + Damage +- (Exalt/Lesser) Crit +- additional (Brupt/Carping) Reload +- (Expert/Amateur) Fire Rate +- (Subire/Sedate) Naming convention (“+” “+” “Weapon Name”) Common example. "Brupt Subire Gorgon" + + - Legendary - Feared Gorgon (+damage +crit +fire rate) - Adroit Gorgon (+damage +crit +reload) - Affiant Gorgon (+damage +reload +fire rate) - Illuse Gorgon (+crit +reload +fire rate) Weapon Crafting** Inserting a “Gorgon” into a “Exalted Carping Blueprint” creates a “Exalted Carping Gorgon” Common Weapon = Chosen Weapon + Common Depot Blueprint + 100 Schematics Uncommon Weapon = Chosen Weapon + Uncommon Depot Blueprint + 200 Schematics Rare = Chosen Weapon + Rare Depot Blueprint + 300 Schematics Legendary = Chosen Weapon + Legendary Depot Blueprint + 400 Schematics *Placing the weapon of your choice into the blueprint of your choice prevents players from experiencing RNG burnout and gives them control of pursuing the weapon they want. Weapon List** Weapons that can be used in blueprints. -Braton -Burston -Gorgon -Hek -Vulkar -Lato -Bronco -Kraken -Vipers -Prova -Dual Clevers -Gram -Jaw Sword -Fragor -Bo/Amphis -Scindo -Mire *on melee weapons, reload speed is replaced with charge speed *Trying to condense this list to include mostly Grineer, Corpus and Infested based weapons. Final Notes and Balancing: No mastery is awarded for leveling black market weapons, level the original weapon first for the mastery it provides. Unwanted weapon blueprints from depot missions can be sold for Schematics (making unfavorable drops still valuable). Positive/Negative effect values are point for discussion but should be fixed to a certain value for each weapon individually. AveryJ
great idea! this would be an excellent challenge for higher tier mastery players with too many powerful weapons at their disposal. It would also breath life back into the more "outdated" weapons :) +
Fettikus
my idea were a dojo invasion4 players or more per sidethe two clans must be the same ranket (moon clan etc)the defending side can place devices like cannons and wallsthe goal is to capture an artifact and get it back to the starting point (a ship that is landed in a space docking station (required for this mode))attack on titan theme in background is required too of curseits just a nice idea and i dont think they will make it but enjoy the imagination :)

DangerDaddy
Honestly, I think its a little complicated, and no one is going to farm the common/uncommon weapons because you get no mastery rank, and they could be better otherwise with legendary/rare/etc. Instead of a variety, make it a ladder where you start at Common, jump to Uncommon, and finish at Rare. Keep Legendary/unique/etc to event exclusive weapons IMO.
ajwalker65
I said this on Twitter, but I don't think this is what the game needs. All this does is make the same things harder so you can run around and kill stuff better/faster/easier. I've always said that will, eventually, get really, really old. What Warframe needs is, as they've already admitted to is a "quest" mode. Where you are getting story/lore and real goals besides "kill stuff faster/easier/better." Sure, new players think it is the best thing ever, but eventually tire of it once they see through the veneer of awesomeness. Again, currently the game is all sizzle with very little "meat". (Apologies to the vegetarian players) The game needs real "meat", something you can sink your teeth into time and time again. And, after you've had your fill of a juicy cheeseburger, they need to bring out the ribs. An idea off the top of my head (since I think about this stuff way too much for not being on the DE payroll): How about a mission where we have to steal something? Some important document or blueprints or something? Catch is, one of the players on the team can not use any weapons (but can use Warframe abilities and hack security) because they are carrying the gizmo that helps the team look for the thing that needs to be stolen. AND THE "IT" CHANGES LOCATION EVERY TIME. How about adding a 15 - 20 minute timer to really spice things up? Don't find it in time? Mission Fails. Lotus: "Tenno, we have reason to believe the SuperSpecialSomething is being held on Ganymede. Please assemble a team to find the item and return it to me." Lotus: "Tenno, please locate and get information from our Grineer (or Corpus) spy on Phobos (or wherever). You will know him by scanning him with (whatever the gizmo is called)." That means, we can't go in killing willy nilly because we may kill the spy which would result in immediate mission failure. This opens up incredible need for stealth. And again, one person on the team HAS NO WEAPONS. This could be a multi day/week event (just keep adding places and parts) where we need to get information that leads up to some big reveal or battle or new planet or new Warframe or new weapon or ..... see how many possibilities just ONE lore/story/quest based mission can open up? First week, Lotus gives us the gizmo already assembled (NO FARMING). Next week (or next day) the new gizmo will help us find part A. Next time, it helps us to find part B. etc. All the while, DE is cooking up something special that the "whatever" it is we are gathering intelligence on turns out to be. ajwalker65
I do agree there. More mode types instead of just extermination etc would help alot. I think are ideas are along the same path, we both want the game to continue to grow. I just don't think adding a way to access more powerful weapons is the way to achieve it. I think something that challenges us as players will help a great deal. I think espionage missions would be different since they don't have anything to do with how many people you kill, the task is to get the information you came for and make it back out. It's actually like a rescue mission but a real life player is taking the part of the operative needing rescue, lol.
St0l3n_ID
Honestly, I think its a little complicated, and no one is going to farm the common/uncommon weapons because you get no mastery rank, and they could be better otherwise with legendary/rare/etc. Instead of a variety, make it a ladder where you start at Common, jump to Uncommon, and finish at Rare. Keep Legendary/unique/etc to event exclusive weapons IMO. That uncommon and commons wont be farmed as often is valid concern, but then there are players that still want to improve their favorite weapons, and they don't have the mastery or equipment to do the missions for the rare blueprints yet. High level players will aim for the legendaries of course but the system is designed with that problem in mind. Actually this systems isn't more complicated then the last event, craft key -> get resources, craft another key -> get blueprint, done. All this does is make the same things harder so you can run around and kill stuff better/faster/easier. I've always said that will, eventually, get really, really old. [...] Sure, new players think it is the best thing ever, but eventually tire of it once they see through the veneer of awesomeness. Well, i personally can say that i want harder things, if there is quest-like missions implemented and maximum level is still 30 it wont bother me for long as none of the enemies will challenge you. I just don't think adding a way to access more powerful weapons is the way to achieve it. I think something that challenges us as players will help a great deal. Thats exactly what mogamu suggest, a higher level cap mission system with rewards making it worth the effort, while not overpowering it all to much. In addition to that I think the system has the ability to make older, weaker weapons viable again. (also i got the feeling we kinda aiming at the same thing here, but we dont ^_^) Edited March 13, 2014 by St0l3n_ID
ajwalker65
(also i got the feeling we kinda aiming at the same thing here, but we dont ^_^) LOL, we are! Just going about it from different routes. Mastery levels mean zilch to me, I could really care less what mine is (6 in case you are wondering). I'd rather have new game modes. BUT, I can understand how it means something to others. AND, I actually think both ideas could be blended where some of the seeking could be for new mods, new weapons and other things the OP said. (Plus, Darvo always cracks me up, getting him back in game for any reason is a good thing.) SO, we're back to the same idea, just arriving at the destination via different paths. :-)
Schwood
Path of Exile, a F2P game, also does something simlar to this idea for end game content. It has more longevity than what's in place with Warframe right now for sure. Edited March 14, 2014 by Schwood

ManlyPicnics
Interesting Idea, I'd like to suggest how about instead of the weapon blueprint how about you unlock special upgrade blueprints that you then craft and install into the weapon. Add a new button to the arsenal screen of your weapon where the list says Equip, Upgrade and Appearance add a button called Modify every 5 levels on that weapon you will get an Upgrade placeholder just like rank it resets with forma. Meaning you will have at max rank 6 placeholders for upgrades in which you can craft using obtained BPs for the upgrades from the mission and as you'd imagine you get better upgrades for higher tiers e.g Melee: Honed- Tier1 add 10 dmg to melee weapon Tier 4 gain 50 dmg and maybe another random perk? sNiPeRzRoCk
Yes! And btw you should be able to do it with frames (Bring my Nova to life and) xP Other than that, BEST idea I have seen across the forums ****Devs this could save Warframe for the higher mastery ranks/levels!****
Shiningshader
Good it will add a better endgame to warframe. That is something this game needs.Nothing better then a chance of boosting a weapon and a price to pay . Also maybe somehow bring mods into this and make them have the same effect as a weapons possible buff (example : i get a rare mod schematic and i put a hellfire in and i could get a sort of wildfire mod with different positive and/or cons)
