[Game Mode] Parcour

Parcour is one of the features I really enjoy in the game. And I'd love to have a parcour mode where the progress of the mission is mainly based on the parcour.

We actually have this mode in the game, but it's pretty limitted. I'm reffering here to the Mastery Rank 8 Test.

How would it actually work as a game mode?

You'd have to get from point A to point B. And just like in the mastery test, you'll have to open up your path by shooting different targets while you're on the run, so while you're wallrunning! Also, between those locations you'll have 2 to 3 check points. Meaning if you fall down, you'll respawn at the last checkpoint that you reached.
But, once you reach point B, you'll have the option to claim the reward and exit or to continue. So the parcour would be an endless mission, just like the survival/defence/interception.

NOTE: Only when all the squad members have reached point B will you get the option to claim the reward or to continue. The reason why the whole team needs to reach the finish and not just one guy is to make sure there is no one just tagging along doing nothing.

So you can keep trying untill you reach the destination?

Every member will get 5 tries to reach the finish, but there will also be a time limit!
The time limit is to prevent people from AFK'ing and holding the whole team back, since you need the whole team at the finish to continue to the next round.

NOTE: All the members that didn't make it in time or failed 5 times will be marked as "dead" and if you want to take part in the next round, you'll have to revive yourself.

Aren't you better of doing this solo?

The benefit of doing it with a team would be that you'd have a lot more tries to reach the finish.
The path that you or one of your team members got unlocked will remain unlocked. So if you run through the path one by one, you'll technically have 20 tries to complete the path. As each members has 5 tries. You'll still have to keep an eye on the time limit, off course.

The path and the obstacles

In the mastery test, you had to shoot a flashy white ball to reveal the next platform.
In the parcour mode you won't have magical white balls. Instead, you'll have to shoot all types of mechanical targets or even Grineers and Corpus could be the targets that reveal the path. For instance you could shoot a flying grineer and once he dies his jetpack flies into the surroundings, causing an explosion and opening a path.

I made some illustrations as a demonstration:

For instance, the target could be a "lock" that keeps a certain wall pressed down.

And if you destroy it, the wall will move out and become the path you can use to run on.

First, it would be simply unlocking your path by shooting objects, but after 3 to 5 rounds, we could have Grineer/Corpus show up trying to stop you. Like, having them slide down a zipline, which you have to destroy to reveal the next platform.

Maybe have a ship fly by with a whole squad going down with a zipline.

The grineer could also fly around using their recent invention, the jetpacks!

Rewards

Every checkpoint will be a flat platform on which you can stand. And each of those checkpoint platform will contain loot crates that will give you ammo, energy orbs and mods. Enemies won't be dropping loot since it would fall down into oblivion anyway, so this will be the way to gain rewards during the mission.

The further you go, the more chance you'll have to get rare mods.

Lore?

It could be an infiltration. We're basically running between skyscrapers, from one Corpus main base to another, collecting informations. And instead of going into the buildings and dealing with hundreds of enemies, we decided to take a different approach. Where we won't be encountering a lot of enemies.

As for the Grineer, we could be running from one spaceship to another. Yes, we're now in space. Just like we were able to get out of the ship into the space during some of the invasions. But this time, there is no floor to stand on. Unless revealed as one of the parcour platforms. Here we could be using small ships as our parcour platforms.
Again, running outside the ship to prevent unneccessary casualties.

Technicalities

One of the technical problems is that you can't load an endless map in.  That's why, this will be a mode where there'll be a loading screen between each round. Or maybe one loading screen each 3 rounds. And every time you'll have a new random generated parcour to reveal.

That's about it for now! Might be editting for typos and such.

i think having this mode having two paths, the parkour one, and then if you fail the parkour you end up in a pit with enemy mobs and have to fight your way to them until the next checkpoint.

to prevent people from just shooting their way through, the parkour section would have containers that can drop rare/difficult to obtain mods/resources and that you can't reach if you fail that section. plus you get bonus experience for not being found/reaching the end of the parkour section (let's say a lot of affinity orbs)

this makes this mode useful because you don't want to end up killing the grineer, you can simply grab a new frame and new equips and train them in this mission, just by that it becomes useful and endorses parkour.

zephyr a cheater tho.

@JameSPYder & DeceptionBlade

Indeed, Zephyr, Loki, Nova will have an advantage if we have all the checkpoint reachable in a straight line. If that's what you mean.

A simple solution to this would be to have every checkpoint locked down, with a door or some other obstacles and the only way to reach the checkpoint, would be by revealing the path in front of it. So if you teleport yourself to the checkpoint right away, you won't have anything to stand on and will simply fall down.

An alternative path could be abused.

I was thinking for this mode to offer void keys at the end of the round as well. But if we have an alternative route people might just take it from the start. Because killing hundreds of enemies is still an easy task in Warframe. That's why defence mission is not just about killing, you have to watch the HP of the pod as well. Same for survival, you need to keep the oxygen up. etc.

For the parcour route to remain the best way to complete the mission, the alternative route should have some sort of an extreme condition.

Anyway, thank you guys, glad you like the idea, haha.

If there is a time limit then this route doesn't have to be short. It could take almost exactly as much time to complete the alt route as it takes for the timer to run out. As in, if you go the alt route then you have a pretty huge chance of failing the mission for taking to much time.

Maybe turn the alternative route into a maze with a few terminal that you need to hack to proceed.

that's why i suggested reasons that promote doing the parkour. final rewards could depend on parts of the parkour completed and so on. i just don't like the idea of dying due to falling down, especially when parkour is so annoying in the PS4
