Well that was easy.

Why would you buy ANY weapon if you can grind it?
Perhaps the mastery lock prevents the use of it except when it is bought? I don't know, I've not researched the matter.

As I said, no research, maybe, maybe not.

Probably not, but he's a hard encounter at lower/unpotatoed levels.

The way your post is worded gives the impression that the gear is MR locked.

Are you referring to the gear that you get for defeating him or the purchased stuff?

The way I worded it is wrong :P

I should have said "Perhaps A mastery lock"

Also, I'm referring to the gear you USE to defeat him.

Although you raise another point here, the gear you get from him isn't as good when unpotatoed.

Ah, thank you for clarification. :)

I think the Stalker pack should be MR locked, but I'm evil that way I guess.

The Stalker/Harvester/G3 gear that is purchase-able should be MR locked. (Not all of those things are purchase-able, but they will be someday.)  I know it's not a popular opinion, but I think that having that kind of gear is a badge of bad-arsery.  Go strutting around with full Stalker gear with a MR lower than the lock and everyone knows you earned it.

These days you can see a MR 2 running around, Primed out with Stalker gear in the wings and only 10 hrs in the bank.

But that's a different rant.  >.>;

ON TOPIC!  Yes, you get double the points because all purchased gear comes with a catalyst installed.  You also receive weapon slots with your purchase.

EDIT: Clarification and emphasis.
