Dredj
I can't take it anymore, I just did the Nightmare alert and the host was a lagger, it was like double Nightmare mode. I have no game programming knowledge so this seems like a simple fix to me. Some people have bad internet, maybe they can't afford better or better is not available. These people probably know their internet sucks and would rather not be put in a host position where he/she will be flamed and abused. So how hard would it be to implement an option client side where these people can opt out of being a host? I also remember talks about a reputation systems, so if the above is not viable then how about people can give + point for being a lag free host, and a - point for laggy hosts, and what ever wizardry you have controlling the matchmaking will pick the guy with the best host score to be host. CrazyCatLad
You can change what Ping limit you want to connect to in options. (Still at 175 limit I have a little trouble finding missions and still find some terribly laggy missions.) Edited March 14, 2014 by Lanieu

marelooke
You can change what Ping limit you want to connect to in options. (Still at 175 limit I have a little trouble finding missions and still find some terribly laggy missions.) That's because they use the ping to the matchmaking server. So people that have a great connection to DEs server but a horrible one to you will still get picked as hosts. That said, with a low ping limit it happens less often though I still occasionally get dumped in groups that seem hosted on dial-up... It is a *lot* better than it was 6 months ago or so though so they are/have been working on it.
ENDER357
Opt out of being host?? Er...toggling Online to Private, Solo or Invite Only? no the idea is that the game should tell the players who is hosting before the game starts and then whoever has reliiable internet can become host. i really dont like the fact that the game doesnt tell who is hosting, it would be great if it did and if we can manually switch hosts that would be even better
VegetableBasket
Steve talked about this in a stream, he said it created "wasteland issue" where no one would host so the game seemed dead. I do think maybe people should be able to get a thumbs up/down rating for their hosting, and people who get rated as better hosts host more often than those who don't. Seems simple enough to me. Dredj
Steve talked about this in a stream, he said it created "wasteland issue" where no one would host so the game seemed dead. I do think maybe people should be able to get a thumbs up/down rating for their hosting, and people who get rated as better hosts host more often than those who don't. Seems simple enough to me. I would rather I host every game I am in. As someone said above about changing the ping limit, I tried that once and set it to 100 and then I entered the "wasteland", I couldn't get a game. So the Host score system is the best, easy sounding solution so far. Laggers get voted into oblivion and like this it will be unlikely they will host, where as I will get up voted and it's likely I'll be the host. I just had another idea, a drop box where we can select our internet speed. 1 to 5mb 5 to 10 10 to 20 20 to 50 50 to 100 100 to 150 When 4 players are matched together, this value is checked and the best speed gets to host. Most of the time, the host loads first, or has its loading bar finish at full while the non-hosts stop around 2/3.
DB-Tenno
Just missed the Catalyst Invasion today because of this. 100 Ping and the matchmaking system STILL puts me with lagtastic players. 4/5 Invasion missions, and it ends. Imagine how that makes me feel about the pitiful state of this game's matchmaking.
