Some Questions About Ash

From what I've read, Ash isn't the best for team play. Which is fine, there are plenty of Frames that are good for that, but is he any good solo? Sometimes I would like to try the stealth approach to missions rather than the rush-down zerg-fest that is team play, as I'm a fan of stealth-based gameplay.

Ash isn't necessarily bad for team play, he's just less than useful in particular mission types, specifically defense.

He's a fine clutch frame, since he's well rounded in rapid damage, CC, stealth, and mobility. He just lacks a "Press 4 to win" ability since his will slowly kill whole mobs rather than instantly.

 

As for solo play, Ash, Loki and Rhino are all right about tied to best of the best for their respective solo play styles.

I think his smokebomb can be helpful in group, because it stuns enemies, so you can revive someone easily with it, or just stun a big group to kill easier or to prevent a revive situation if someone is cornered.

The famous "ash is bad for team play" line is mainly a pre-made phrase that people like to repeat to sound like they know much... off course im not saying Ash is the best asset in a team but it's not absolutely and undeniably just a solo frame.

Those are good points. I've tried to talk my friends into trying a team-stealth game, if nothing else but to see how it would play out. But I was pretty much met with "less stealth; more zerg". How is Smokebomb compared to Excalibur's Radial Blind?

 

And kind of off-topic; is Supress actually useful or should I just stick to bows and kunai?

Suppress isn't very useful at all, not with Stealth 1.0 still afflicting us. You're better off using bows and Kunai or Hikou with their built-in silence, rather than giving up a slot on a firearm for a silencer mod. When I'm Ashing around, I use a bow for sniping at range and Kunai when I need a faster fire rate.

I find Loki more useful for a true stealth approach. 

Ash is more like a combat/stealth mixtype.

 

If you want to perfectly stealth, Loki is the frame for you.
