Mechanic Questions (Rage, Armor, Etc)

Question

Posted

Basic question: Does Rage apply before, or after armor is taken into consideration? (And does that matter?)

Furthermore, does Rage actually REDUCE 40% of the damage taken or simply apply 40% of the damage taken in Energy? In other words, if I take 10 damage, will Rage reduce that to 6?

The reason I ask is because if Rage kicks in before armor, you'll get your 4 energy from that attack. If it kicks in after, you will actually get less per hit. That's an important distinction to me.

Rage does not reduce damage taken.

It takes armor into account; etc only health you lose is converted to energy, not damage to health that you take.

Hope that made sense. To clarify;

If you take a hit for 10, and have 50% armor, you lose 5 health. Rage gives you 2 energy.

Got it. Makes sense.

I guess one other thing to consider is whether or not you have enough HP to actually fully recharge your batteries, to take better advantage of Quick Thinking.

I actually use Rage without QT and Flow in quite a few builds for emergency situations. Saryn, for example, only stops spamming Miasma when shes out of energy, so taking some damage lets her go back to spamming Miasmas >.> Same for any frame with CC abilities.

Just Rage is handy on Rhino, Valkeryie, Frost.  Frames with a lot of health that always want to have that CC ability available.  I haven't had much success trying this on squishy frames like Nova, but that could easily be pilot error.
