Rawr0w0 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) I've been thinking recently how interesting it would be if during gameplay, the Tenno spoke. Grineer and Corpus have their own language, so why not Tenno? Lotus, Stalker, and a few bosses speak...Just an idea for a bonus thing that could be added.Edit: The biggest thing I was really thinking of were using cues like the military already uses if not actual voice speech. alchemistjkt Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) it could also destroy the image that people have of tenno. can you imagine what saryn sounds like when she talks? how about ember or rhino or loki or any of them? now... can you imagine if the voice they get is nothing like what you imagined? to the people who care about small details like that (a fairly large amount of us around here), that would do more harm than good. Damuranashi Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Because that is part of the lore of Warframe. The Tenno must be stoic and silent.
Omega224 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 the tenno should communicate but not speak which is why theres an emote system coming
Angius Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 It was discussed multiple times. Answer... The answer never changes... NO
Sni7ch Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 The Lotus is our voice. Plus DE said 5-7 live streams ago that the Tenno do not need to talk. They are space ninjas! Space ninja do not talk!
xShadowsaur Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I think it is best that the Tenno do not have a voice. At all. They need not a voice. Their actions are loud enough. Valkyr is the closest thing we should have to a voice for the Tenno, and that is a scream of unbridled rage upon our enemies. We are the "Mute Peasants" that will bring reconing upon the system. We need not a voice.

This. ^ Just like the Master Chief's face. :P
Brimir Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 No, silent protagonists allows each and every one of us to identify with our Tenno in a way you wouldn't get if they were talking.
Thaumatos Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 This. ^ Just like the Master Chief's face. :P Almost exactly like that, actually. It's a forgone process of making things more in-depth (most likely to save time/effort) that turns into a cult-like following and eventually becomes part of the 'feel' of the game. If they would have put voices in to begin with, just like if they would have taken the time to actually make Master Chief's face early on, it wouldn't have been a big deal. Since they didn't, it kinda is a big deal now.
Ailana Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 it could also destroy the image that people have of tenno. can you imagine what saryn sounds like when she talks? how about ember or rhino or loki or any of them? now... can you imagine if the voice they get is nothing like what you imagined? to the people who care about small details like that (a fairly large amount of us around here), that would do more harm than good. Given Saryn's Frame design she probably has one of those sultry voices that would make the other tenno stop fighting to stare at her likely getting them all killed :P

Imaru Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 It would be like asking Gordon Freeman or Chell to talk or Master Chief to show his face. Ninjas have no reason to talk.
FROST1197 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 More than that I'd like more NPC allies telling us what going on instead of Lotus all the time or the occasional Darvo.
billthebetta Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 People who are silent are much cooler. And Frost is the coolest.
Ailana Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I do think it would be interesting to have voices for our Tenno but there is a mystique to them not speaking think Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe.
Genoscythe Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 It would destroy the "alter-ego" feeling many people have of their Tenno. If Tenno would speak, many people would not be able to identify themselves with them anymore, they would all have the same voice (but there are 3 million different Tenno out there, each one unique) which would kinda not make sense.
Edgedemon Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Given Saryn's Frame design she probably has one of those sultry voices that would make the other tenno stop fighting to stare at her likely getting them all killed :P i kinda imagine her poison ivy style, a deadly temptation of sorts
Ailana Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) i kinda imagine her poison ivy style, a deadly temptation of sorts Now that is a voice I'd take for Saryn in a heartbeat I'd even pay plat for it. ^_^ Edited March 15, 2014 by Ailana
RealPandemonium Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Given the design council's recent corpus voice butchery I'd stay away from this topic.
-CM-Syein Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 I used to love corpus...until I heard their voices. Now they're as annoying as grineer.
Brimir Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Given the design council's recent corpus voice butchery I'd stay away from this topic. Hey, we picked the lesser evil...! Not like we asked for the voices to be changed in the first place.
