Gwyyn
Basically, you'd have an option to turn a weapon you own into a prime skin, consuming the weapon, and allowing you to make the prime version look like the non-prime version. There are a few weapons (mostly the Orthos) where I strongly prefer the non-prime look, but it's hard to stick with it when the prime version is just a straight upgrade. Gwyyn
There (ostensibly, the code technically could be structured such that this is impossible to add, but it's unlikely) shouldn't be a reason the game can't allow swapping of models on a weapon. It would be a lot more work to do obviously, and would require a seperate toggle from the skins, but it's entirely possible.

From what I understood, Draice was referring to skins like the Camo skins, not the regular weapon models themselves. I don't think we ever got an answer for whether we would be able to, say, use the Paris model on the Paris Prime. Though I (and many others) would love this as an option, I can see the biggest issue being battlefield recognition. That is, each weapon has its own distinct place in gameplay that is expressed through its aesthetic components, whether it's the draw of a Paris string or the ratatatat of a Boltor. Changing the appearance and sounds of a Prime weapon to its regular counterpart would blur those distinctions between them. We can only hope that the "increased customization" the devs noted in a livestream a while back will include model swaps for Prime weapons.
