Weapons Not Worth Ranking

I've acquired a few new weapons recently, but I'm wondering if they're even worth leveling. Right now they seem to be a waste of resources and platinum.

 

Flux Rifle: Damage is crap even with R7 Serration, coupled with the tight range.

Torid: Reviews seem accurate. Damage is good when the shot directly hits, but even multiple AoE clouds are ineffective.

 

What other weapons can be classed as not worth ranking? I still have an Acrid that is unranked, but if it is worthless then I won't use it. Are there any others?

All weapons are worth leveling if you feel you want mastery, of course.

 

Besides, in my opinion ALL weapons can be made viable... With a few formas...

true due to damage 2.0 a many weapons feel pretty weak. the acrid did take a big hit. its not as strong as it use to be but i actually still use on occation and its still fun to use. i like seeing the animation when enemies melt. The Flux Rifle tho really does feel like a waste of resources to me. mine is maxed at 30 and no mod seems to help.

There are under 10 weapons that are "worth" leveling for usage, but a couple that are fun to use and most others are generic and bad. If you are using primarily your primary, you should rank a secondary just for the mastery and vice versa.

Regardless of cost, all items in-game add to mastery, which is what you will need in the "focus system", to be truly boss.

For mastery, all weapons are equally worth ranking.  For damage and status effects only some weapons are worth the resources put into them:  http://dpsframe.com/

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm at Mastery Rank 10, and since I have access to all weapons now, increasing it further does not seem necessary.

Acrid is pretty cool.  I don't think it has any polarity slots of the bat but its a neat weapon.

Once Akstilleto is maxed (a weapon I like a lot), I'll rank up Acrid next.

the vast majority of weapons arent worth using, their just mastery sinks, in fact many are that bad and pathetic that you wont even use them, you will just leech mastery gains while using your other weapon (in my case 95% of all my melee weapons ive not even swung once, got to 30, deleted, same with a lot of secondarys).  

 

lvl them all, delete what you dont like, keep what you do, ittl be a nice short list tbh.

let me take this chance to warn u not to throw weapons aside, keep them in your arsenal if u can - that is if u even think there is a slight chance DE might change/fix/buff it later

 

ive had to rebuild a few weapons to make use of them once they had the wand of buffing waved over them

 

you just never know, flux rifle and torid might be pure awesome later down the line

Any weapon you don't enjoy using you can consider not worth ranking.  I have talked to people online who throughly enjoy the Synapse over their Soma.   So they put the time, energy and resources in it for 6 forma to make it their best weapon and Soma is just keep on standby.  Myself I prefer the Soma so I will effort into that weapon.

 

Brakk is the top shotgun type secondary but I have the Detron and now that I have potatoed it, really love feel of the weapon and the damage it puts out.  It wasn't until I had 'put some resources into it' that I started to enjoy it.  DPS is only in the 12k range versus the Brakk's 23k but as I said, I enjoy using the weapon and with some forma as my next steps will still do the job in any part of this game except for maybe T3 survival.

 

Weapon choice is a matter of one's "personal" taste.   Even though many folks say the Grinlok isn't that good, particularly if you look at the DPS charts, I think I will like using the weapon as it is leverage action and I have always loved that type of weapon, even if it is only good for me to use for T1 missions and all the planets except Pluto and Ceres.  

 

So don't go by what everyone says.  Take in their opinions but go for what feels right for you.
