Struggling To Pass Through "mid-Game"

Tribelion
 Share

Question

so, recently played this game. been like 1-2 month or so. got the hang of the interface and most part of the game. BUT, im kinda struggling to pass through "the mid level" of the game. i want to give you guys the specific capability of my main warframe. :

(Warframe)Excalibur Lv.30 (No Forma/Potato):

Redirection Lv.5, Radial Javelin Unranked, Super Jump Unranked, Slash Dash Unranked, Radial Blind Unranked, Shield Deflection Unranked, Lightning Rod Unranked, Vitality Unranked (i know its crappy, but that is all i got)

(Primary Weapon) Paris Lv.18 (Normal) (No Forma/Potato):
Arrow Mutation Ammo Unranked, Serration Lv.4, Point Strike Lv.3

(Secondary Weapon) Lato Lv.30 (No Forma/Potato):
Sure Shot Unranked, Lethat Torrent Unranked, Hornet Sting Unranked, Heated Charge Unranked, Quick Draw Unranked, Trick Mag Unranked, Pistol Gambit Unranked

(Melee Weapon) Dual Zaron Lv.8 (No Forma/Potato):

Pressure Point Unranked, Fury Unranked

Things you might want to know :
1. I reached Uranus. so i could assume im not that early on the stage of the game

2. got most part of the game understood

3. Gold initiate (3th Ranked)

Things i wanted to ask :
1. What should i do know to proceed and get better in the game? feels like im a deadweight on some occasion in the game, and not strong enough. i cant solo through the game which i heard people are doing it easily when their on my stage of the game.

2. Should i potato any of my main (Warframe, Weapon, Secondary or Melee) ? cause i dont know how to get the Orokin Reactor BPs so i wanted to spend some of my plat. but i need to know which one is worth to install a potato.

3. if not necessary, what mod should i get in order to get better or atleast keep up with my current planet (First node on uranus) especially on warframe, because i just install whatever i got on it actually. only leveling up Redirection.

I asked some of the people on chat but everytime i asked them for example :
Me :"Does Excalibur worth getting potato or forma?"

They be like :"No"

without giving me any valid reason

or

Me :"does paris worth to instal a forma on?"

They be like :"get paris prime and forma that"

either they give the impression of "its not your freaking business you noob. its high level stuff that you wouldnt understand" or they told me to buy stuff as if money come from heaven and i dont need to consider buying something (because im not that rich neither do i have an income yet)

please wonderful high level people, help me proceed to the next stage of the game and became better. i made this post as clean, organized and grammar error free as possible (im not a native english speaker im sorry)

possible. i hope you appreciate my effort and give me the revelation i need. thanks a bunch.

I wouldn't say 'wonderful' high level people.  Most high level people are elitist douchebags.  I'm level 12 and I'll try to help though.

I have a few more questions for you though first.

What would your ideal play style be?  Do you run and gun? Snipe? Explosives?  Melee? Do you value mobility, tankiness, high damage or what?  Do you think you would prefer melee weapons that do aoe hits or single target?  Are you more of a support person, a loner?

I have every warframe and almost every weapon and mod maxed.  Sounds like all you have is excalibur and while he is fun definitely has weakness.

Congratulations on posting all of that with good grammar.  Good work.

My recommendation is to do some survival farms and boss farms to get some good mods: ie Intensity, Flow, Stretch, Continuity, Split Chamber, etc, then to level your power mods (it has a VERY significant effect on your performance).

Then find a frame you really want, get it through farm, and potato it.  Potato BP's are from alerts and developer livestreams

Join a good clan who help you out.

thanks for both of you to answer right away. so ive been looking on a warframe video lately on youtube which most of them were outdated. but i think i would like to get Nyx, since she is the "manipulative" type of frame. but in order to get her system, chassis and helmet BPs (been on search and its on hades right?) means i need to go through several misson nodes. which probably im not strong enough -_-. but i got braton level 22 that i forgot to mention. so do i like use it instead of Paris just to get to the hades or should i level paris to 30?

Drop excess mods that are unranked in favor of fusing up mods that are of value.

Keep in mind that for the cost of 1 additional point you double the base value of the mod.

So if a mod costs 4 points and gives you a 40% bonus, increasing it by one will give you 80% for 5 points.

quickdraw, sure shot and trick mag may look pretty on your weapon, but it's far more effective to rank up hornet strike to the point where you're getting a good return on your mod costs.

the same goes with any weapon / warframe you design.

you will (if you play the game long enough) reach a point where you have every warframe, all with reactors and a few to spare even after boosting your sentinels. (results may vary) but it's never a bad idea to add a reactor to a warframe you like. (assuming you actually like it)

you *will* get more if you pay attention to alerts / battle pay.

on the whole, offense is always a better than defense. fuse up your abilities. fully.

potato your warframe.

focus on damage and/or cyclic rate on your weapons.

without a catalyst you basically have to focus on the boosting the primary attributes of your weaponry and "deal" with the weapons drawbacks. the lack of mod fitting demands it. if you want to get into that stuff, then you should potato and/or forma the weapon.

as for the rest of the advice given here, i'd agree with most of it.

Looks like you're just trying to push too fast. You should have more weapons and much higher rank mods. Rank 3 account is almost nothing. Your starter gear all hitting 30 for the first time will put you past Rank 2 if I remember correctly.

Go back to Mercury, Venus, Earth and Jupiter and play the missions you like for more mods and materials. Then look through the market at what new weapons you can make. Keep up with your mod collection and continue to fusion the mods you find to make your most used mods stronger.

Nyx drops from Phorid, meaning whenever the Infested invade and convert a boss node to a Phorid, you can farm that node while the Phorid is active.

This could happen on any planet.  Level all your gear to 30, if you can.  Cassini on Saturn is a really good place for exp if you stay till 20-30 mins (its a survival mission)

I would say don't potato the Xcal as he really needs some high ranked mods to shine. For now focus on ranking up Slash Dash and Radial Blind, along with your shield(+regen) and hp mods.

I would continue to farm defenses and survivals on planets you are more comfortable at, in order to rank up the appropriate mods with the cores and like-polarity mods that drop.

I would work on farming another frame before potatoing. Rhino is particularly easy to use, although some way down the road you may regret not waiting for the Prime (farming Rhino prime takes a while).

I would get a Grakata or Karak and potato that, they should be fairly easy to obtain.

Edit: Grakata shines with crit and/or status mods, so maybe not, go with Karak.

Good easily obtainable sidearms you wont regret potatoing include the Aklex/Akbolto for Grineer, AkMagnus for Corpus, and Marelok if you have a clan.

I recommend fusing your primary weapons damage mod 'serration' until it is at least level 4 [indicated by notches] and actively keep your damaging elemental mods for it [hellfire, etc] leveled.  I would not potato or forma any of these weapons you mentioned.

This wiki is very good

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Warframes

For weapons you should try to get to forma or potato, I recommend the following:

Primary Weapons:

[Rifle Class]

Braton Prime [not Mk1-Braton]

Paris Prime [bow]

Cernos [bow]

Vectis [sniper]

Gorgon

Karak

Soma

[shotgun]

Hek

Strun

Sobek

[For Secondary Weapons]

Despair

Hikou

Aklex [requires two Lex]

Dual Vasto [requires two Vasto]

[For Melee]

Orthos Prime [later game]

Orthos

Fang Prime [later game]

Fang

Jat Kittag

Also, try to invest in a Sentinel. It has an expensive Blueprint but it is very worth it. I recommend you get Shade first.

For better mods, use the wiki to see where they drop and do survival or defense missions at those places.

Make sure you fuse your mods. That seems to be the major crutch in your performance.

Finally Warframes for lower levels and surviving

Rhino is the ABSOLUTE best warframe for lower level players.  You be very hard to kill.

Ash and Loki are helpful because stealth is rather strong for survival at low levels.

Trinity, if played correctly, is harder to kill but is only essentially the best warframe at very High levels and modded correctly. Not so good at low levels.

Frost is great for defense missions and if you can get him, he'll benefit you greatly through mid game content.

Volt is devastating to Corpus early through mid

Ember is devastating to Infested early through mid

Valkyr is very difficult to play without proper modding.

Zephyr is difficult to play without proper modding.

If you plan on being mainly melee. I'd get Ash or Loki

If you plan on being solo or if you have problems dying a lot, get Rhino

If you plan on being a damage caster get Volt, Ember, Nova, etc.

If you are primarily support Trinity, Nyx, Nekros, Loki, Nova, Frost and Rhino are all great picks and all of them do well at the mid-late game.

Also If you have an android i recommend downloading an app call WarDroid. It will tell you when alerts are and what the rewards are.

This app also tells you invasion rewards and which ones are giving what.

P.S. One of the people said they give out Orokin Reacters/Catalysts after livestreams. This refers to the Devestreams they have every other week, the next one is this week i believe.

P.S.S. I recommend leveling up Redirection and Vitality mainly along with slash dash and radial blind.

P.S.S.S Forma drops in Void missions commonly DO NOT WASTE PLATINUM ON IT IF YOU CAN HELP IT. I would personally recommend farming survivals or defenses for low level keys and then when you wish to run these Tower I keys just say in the recruiting channel that you're hosting a T1 (cap/survival/etc) and they will whisper you for invite hopefully.

P.S.S.S.S    Trying to solo this game at the later tiers is very difficult if you're not fitted with decent gear. Also Check the Warframe WIki, Look for Damage 2.0 elements. This page will help teach you which of your mods and guns will do more damage to what. From what you stated you already have 2 mods you really need, Serration and Hornet strike. These two mods are worth upgrading.

P.S.S.S.S.S I recomend if you still have the starting 50 platinum to buy a Character slot in your inventory slot in the arsenal. It will help you a great deal if you want more characters.

other than that, i don't know how else to help you other then adding me on the game :P

To begin, the warframe that you use is truly a personal preference thing and in my opinion with the proper modding any warframe can be made viable for any kind of play.  Nyx is a fantastic frame and I would highly recommend that you get her if manipulation of enemy forces is to your liking, just bear in mind that she is very squishy.  If you are looking for help farming her parts send me a friend request, I am rank 11 with pretty much all frames so I can back you up in a wide variety of roles.  Always willing to help out whenever I am online.  Mod wise it is almost a set in stone rule that multishot mods are a requirement on all your weapons.  Also with any of the bow weapons because their critical damage base is so high you should go for point strike(crit chance) and vital sense(crit damage) mods.  Hope this helped a bit and if you need help in game feel free to shoot be a friend request.

Definitely pick up a frame that better suits your tastes (but excalibur is a really underrated/awesome frame too). Once you've got a frame/weapons that suit your style, you can work on optimizing what you have. For now, try to establish a solid base in items that fit you.

If you need some help, feel free to add me in game!

One thing I didn't yet see much of, but do you have any other frames? All of the starting planet end bosses drop all of the parts needed for rhino, nyx,Oberon nd so on. Excal is fine, but if you want more dps farm Oberon for early to mid game and get nova eventually to really start nuking. If you are dying get Rhino and just play around with it. Frames are all different and your playstyle might work better with one frame over another.  You are still early game as far as level progression and trying out mods and gear so play around. Don't use and forma one frame or weapon too much as you might find something tomorrow you like better.

You won't want to hear this, but if you don't have potatos in your 'frames or favored weapons, you're ALWAYS going to be limited to what you can do.

Doubling your available energy for mods is a huge thing. Without that boost, you are going to be stuck in the middle planets, without the means to farm the outer planets or the void.

I understand a disinclination to spend money, but this is the sticking point in the game and you will have to deal with it. Waiting for the "next big thing" will mean you will wait, probably forever. I'd suggest taking your favorite 'frame and weapons and getting the potatos in. It'll make a big difference in your capabilities. Then with that boost, you can farm for things that look more interesting to you and deal with them in a more effective manner.

Let me try and add something to the conversation though I may end up just reiterating, but first, let me directly answer your questions.

1. What should i do know to proceed and get better in the game? feels like im a deadweight on some occasion in the game, and not strong enough. i cant solo through the game which i heard people are doing it easily when their on my stage of the game.

To get better and proceed through the game you need to have either maxed mods or at least close to max mods.  As a poster above me has said, this maximizes the value you get out of them and adds a significant amount of power to your frame and weaponry.  If you are as far as the first node of Uranus you really should go back and get the parts for the warframes on all the planets you've already visited and then try them out.

2. Should i potato any of my main (Warframe, Weapon, Secondary or Melee) ? cause i dont know how to get the Orokin Reactor BPs so i wanted to spend some of my plat. but i need to know which one is worth to install a potato.

First off, as has been stated above, you can get orokin reactors and catalysts from alerts.  The most consistent way to get them is through the "Gift of the Lotus" alert that comes up after the devstream.  As to what you should potato: anything you want.  Damage 2.0 basically allowed any weapon with the right mods to be perfectly acceptable, even in high level content.  It might require more work to get it there, and it may not shine when it is there, but it will do fine.  At this point whatever weapon and frame you find yourself using the most and needing more mod space on, potato it.  I'll make a list of the best early weapons to do this on at the end of the post.

3. if not necessary, what mod should i get in order to get better or atleast keep up with my current planet (First node on uranus) especially on warframe, because i just install whatever i got on it actually. only leveling up Redirection.

Again, max your mods but specifically:

Warframe: Always max your ability mods, but you should really try and get: Continuity, Flow, Intensify, Streamline, and Stretch.  These are easy to max and extremely useful on any frame.  Additionally, try and get all of the aura mods that come up in alerts and specifically, Energy Drain.  I use energy drain on anything with a bar or neutral aura polarity and sometimes even on frames with the wrong polarity. It's that useful.  You will also want to get your Vitality, Redirection, and Fast Deflection up.  Fast Deflection first because it is easy and then get the others to a decent boost.  I still don't have my Vitality or Redirection maxed and I'm rank 15.

Primary: Serration, Split Chamber, Hellfire, Stormbringer, Infected Clip, and Cryo Rounds.  Prioritize obtaining and maxing Split Chamber, since it's easy to max and gives a great all-around damage boost.  Serration just needs to give somewhere around a 100% damage bonus and the others are easy to max but are the most important for damage.  If you intend to keep the bow until you switch to the Cernos, Paris Prime, or Dread you should obtain Point Strike and Vital Sense.  However, because of how much natural crit the bows now have you may not need to max Point Strike.  To emphasize how good maxing your mods is I have a level 30 Cernos and with just a maxed Serration and Split Chamber its total listed damage is almost 1000 per shot.

Secondary: See above but with the secondary specific mods.

Melee: See above but with melee specific mods

Now, on to some more general suggestions.

Warframe: Get more frames and find what you like and always max the ability mods.

Good Primaries: Cernos, Karak, Latron, Tetra
The Karak is probably the best all around primary you can get at your mastery rank but the Latron was my personal favorite since I like accurate, single shot, relatively high damage weapons.  The Latron can basically do sniperish damage but without the penalty of missing like with a bow or actual sniper rifle.
Awesome instant Potato material: Boar Prime (shotgun), Boltor Prime, Braton Prime, Dread, Latron Prime, Ogris, Paris Prime, Penta, Soma, Synapse (depending on weapon preference)

Good Secondaries: Akbolto, Akmagnus, Akstiletto, Akvasto, Hikou, Kunai, Marelok, Twin Vipers
Awesome instant Potato material: Brakk, Despair
Personal Suggestion: Keep that Lato and take it on the long way to Akbolto if you've got room.  Otherwise I highly suggest getting the Kunai or Hikou, they are absolutely amazing weapons and are easily able to take you all the way to Pluto if you so desire.

Good Melee: Dakra Prime, Dual Zoren, Galatine, Glaive, Glaive Prime, Kestrel, Orthos, Orthos Prime
Personal Suggestion: Dual Zorens are awesome because they allow you to move quickly no matter what frame you're in by zoren-coptering, so a maxed Fury on it is a priority for this. The ranged melee weapons are awesome because they're unique and have uniquely useful mods.  However, when it comes to damage, the Orthos Prime and Galatine are the queen and king respectively.  The Orthos Prime does great charge damage, has a really short charge time, and huge range that makes it easy to destroy enemies around you.  The Galatine probably does the most damage you will ever see in Warframe in a single hit, barring shenanigans.

On Sentinels: If you don't have one, the first one you should probably get is Shade. It may not do damage but that invisibility precept is literally a lifesaver.  Otherwise the convenience of Carrier is why it appears to be the most used sentinel in the game at the moment.

TL; DR
Max your mods. Potato your favorite frame and weapon ASAP. Get access to clan tech. Visit the Void.
