Buff Idea For The Lanka

At its current state, the Lanka is an underperformer; especially when factoring in bows.

I'm a fan of sniper rifles due to their intense one shot kill capability, so here's what I suggest.

The Lanka is apparently a rifle that shoots a "high velocity projectile through magnetic induction."

We today would classify that as a "Railgun". Here ladies and gentlemen is a real Railgun:

Now being a Rank 7 clan tech weapon, I assume that it should at least feel as powerful as that ^

First off, give it base magnetic damage, instead of electric. This should just be a no brainer.

Secondly, I think it would be interesting if it blew away enemies the shot flew past (in close proximity of course.)

Third, take away the travel time for the projectile, Railguns today shoot objects at around 30,000 mph.

Fourth, I see the damage as lacking, especially for a sniper rifle that you have to charge up, so buffing the damage a bit might not hurt, although making the base damage magnetic could be enough. So I'm not so sure about this point exactly.

This is what I propose, tell me what you all think. Inb4 Primed Chamber.

Are you serious? The Lanka is a beast when it's fed! Building it gas electric makes it a crowd control machine on its charged pen shots.

I just believe that a mastery 7 clan tech weapon shouldn't be out damaged by say, a Cernos.

It should at least be on the same level as the Paris Prime.

Currently the Lanka's in a very good place. It has very high damage and very nice utility. Building it Gas/Electric is amazing and blows up entire crowds of enemies with well placed shots. Switching the damage on the Lanka to magnetic would be a pretty big nerf, and currently the whole bows verses sniper rifles is an argument in and of itself.

in short, I disagree that the Lanka needs a change specifically.

"Magnetic damage" works more like an EMP (Drains and fries electronics), sapping shields and energy, while a Railgun shoots a SOLID projectile of metal through magnetic induction. Besides, Lanka acts more like a Coilgun

being A LOT quieter than a Railgun, which breaks the sound barrier.  If the Lanka WAS in fact a Coilgun it would also explain why it's silent (Coilgun aren't silent, but they're quieter than bullets). Lanka appears to be firing some form of plasma, but some COULD argue it would still deal Magnetic, but then we have to go to faction logic; why would the Corpus make a weapon only good against themselves? Radiation or maaaybe Corrosive would make sense, being good against Grineer or Infested.

MKing it magnetic would be a massive nerf, reducing the damage to grineer and infested cause you wont be able to use the base damage for the combos, sure it'l be better for corpus and it will make sense by the description but unless it will have just redicilus damage it wont be a serious weapon, i say leave it electrical, make the hitbox of the shots larger, and buff the damage to pass bows, but with less crit, it has a slower charge and a limited clip, and its harder to obtain, seems reasonble to be stronger then a weapon you just craft in the market

Almost all Corpus weapons are good against themselves sir.

Also if it is kept as electric, then there needs to be a slight buff in damage.

I've tried the Gas build and just having an AOE gas with still low damage isn't appealing.

Because currently, like I said, even the Cernos out damages this.

Almost all Corpus weapons are good against themselves sir.

Cestra, Dera, Supra, Spectra, Tetra, Flux and Detron all deal either Slash(Flux only), Puncture, and Radiation(Detron only) which are effective against either Infested or Grineer. Only Corpus Melee are good against other Corpus, but the majority of the weapons are good against the other factions.

Check the wiki next time.

With it being already electric, it will stay good against the Corpus either way.

You can hold back on the sass by the way, that is not welcome here.
