Basilo
While there definitely needs to be some balancing done with the shield lancers, this post is not about that. This post is about the fact that, as long as I am in front of a shield lancer when it starts charging, I will always be knocked down unless I roll. I have ran and slid to the side of them, directly away from them, and even ended up behind them, only to be knocked over once they finish the animation. This is, to say the least, annoying, and I would like to see the issue fixed.
Hawk_of_the_Reborn
No. Am I the only one who is okay with the way Shield lancers are? I mean those are pretty much the only enemy left that can actually do something to me now, all the others just either die too fast or are just too easy to counter their particular 'tactics'
DaftMeat
They do have an uncanny ability to keep their shield between you flawlessly. Ask any Valkyr in Hysteria.
Guest
The last time a Shield Lancer knocked me down was last year.

They do have an uncanny ability to keep their shield between you flawlessly. Ask any Valkyr in Hysteria. This is something else I've noticed recently, they're really hard to melee, and I mean... duh they have shields, but even when you're behind them they just seem to magically nullify your attacks. MixterFox
I always hated that when trying to get past them I'd flip over them just to be knocked back after I was behind them.
LukeAura
I thought this was fixed at some point? Or was that the hitscan smashes of ancients? It may have broke again.

Another bug I recently became aware of involving their shields is that if you throw a glaive at them(I'm not sure about Kestral and Glaive Prime) and you have the mod Power Throw equipped, while the glaive will go straight their shields, it will not hurt them unless it comes back through them, either due to a bounce or a return. (PSN)LUCKY_JOEL
I'd say it would be a good thing if they made the animation much fluid and reactive to it should be done. I also do hate how you have all of these maneuvers and for what? Useless against avoiding a quick and hasty Shield Lancer (Or Ancients since they act the same in terms of knockdowns.) and regardless how you rolled, even if you happen to be meters away from it all. There isn't a single reason why Rolling should exist if you can't even evade being shield bashed down, just leaves you only needing to shoot the darn guys from afar. I don't even need to tell you how people who like to get up close and hack things up with their melee would feel about it.
ast00
What's funny is that they have a pistol and they do more damage than the Elite Lancers. Saturn Mimas has TOOOOOOOOONS of them and they do more damage than the units that are supposed to deal damage. And 70% of the time melee can't hit them even from behind. I'm not. Shield Lancers should require skill to avoid, but at the moment, any skill that the player may have is completely stamped down by latency issues. They end up getting punished for nothing. This is not "challenge". Fix the issue. Unavoidable knockdowns add nothing to this game.

True - with radial knockdowns on every heavy, Scorpion spam, Bombards' target seeking KDs, Napalms, Commander teleports and Roller staggers to boot, the Shield Lancers are far from alone in the Grineer Arsenal of Player Control Removal. What generally works for me against shield lancers is either jump-kicks or ground slam attacks. Get them down, then melee.
