Weapon Workshop

Are you tired of playing high-level Survivals and Defenses with the same weapons all the time? Do you think it would be refreshing to play with other weapons as well, but it's not worth it because how bad the other weapons are? If so, you might want to check out this small suggestion.

Weapon Workshops!

Meet Bob. Bob is one of the many veteran players who has spent several hundreds of hours playing Warframe. He has achieved a lot of kills with Synapse and Brakk but he has, over time, become a bit tired of playing with those weapons. He started to wonder how other weapons could be upgraded at the level of the current ''endgame'' weapons. After a lot of thinking, he came up with an idea of Weapon Workshops.

Weapon Workshops would have a special room in our clan Dojos, similar to our current labs where we can acquire great and not-so-great weapons, which require different mastery ranks. Mastery rank indicates how many times a weapon can be upgraded. Currently, the highest mastery rank requirement for any weapon is six. Those weapons with mastery rank requirement of six cannot be upgraded anymore in the workshops. Weapons with mastery rank requirement of less than six can be upgraded. For example, a weapon that requires rank four can be upgraded two times, weapon with mastery rank two can be upgraded four times and so on. If a rank two weapon is upgraded four times, mastery rank of six is needed to wield it, of course.

Any bad weapon can be made into a viable weapon for endgame in the workshops. Of course, upgrading those weapons won't be cheap. Each time a weapon is upgraded, it costs one Orokin Catalyst, a.k.a. the all mighty blue potato. How ever, this time it works a bit differently than usual. Instead of doubling the mod capacity (currently potatoes double the capacity of 30 to 60), the catalyst would increase the base stats (damage, fire rate, etc...) by X%. After upgrading the weapon to the maximum rank, it should be about as good as, for example, Soma and Synapse are at the moment.

Pros and cons.

The biggest advantage of this would be that fact that any weapon can be upgraded into a viable endgame weapon. We would finally see some variety in the weapons at high-level missions. In my opinion it is quite irritating that everybody uses a Soma, Synapse, Phage or Brakk nowadays.

The disadvantage of this is the unbalanced mastery rank requirements. For examples I shall choose Grakata and Flux Rifle. Grakata is one of the most powerful rifles in the game. It can reach 11k DPS, yet it requires no mastery rank. Flux Rifle is hardly any better than a Braton is, yet it requires mastery rank of six. Balancing all the weapons would require a lot of effort, and as we all know, DE isn't really the masters of balancing things.

Tell me what you think, all feedback is welcome. I would personally love to see this in-game.

Love your idea but the mastery rank part is just confusing. Maybe the workshop itself has a mastery rank? Do some of this, some of that and you gain EXP which contributes to your Workshop level. The higher your level the more you can upgrade your weapon. So basically its a skill.

i think this is a great idea. but like you mentioned all weapons would have to be re-evaluated for sure !!. btw acrid and embolist are mastery rank 7 and 8.

Whoever in the DE's team came up with those mastery ranks must have been high.

It prevents low-rank players from having ''OP'' weapons. Without that system, rank 0 players would be able to have Bratons that were ad good as Soma is currently.

I see.....sounds good to me. Could use a bit more touching up since its a diamond in the rough.
