Rest In Peace, Void

It's a really bad day for me. In my opinion, yesterday Void died and was burried. I really miss these old good days, this Golden Age when the Void missions (I'll call them "Prime" later in the text) and the Prime Stuff gave you a sort of prestige... Those days are now forgotten, I'm afraid. To explain you my opinion, I'll have to tell you a little story...

I discovered the universe of Warframe at the end of the U7. To tell the truth, a friend (deadmen999) brought me here. Both of us are students and both of us were beta-testers for diferent kind of video games, so there were nothing unusual that we would test this game as well. At that time, we found the game just awesome. A good TPS with RPG elements and a craft system, a nice universe, tons of different ways to progress, to customize your way of playing. Of course there were bugs and weird things but the game was incredible. But the best of all were the Primes and the Prime stuff. The Void keys were extremely hard to obtain, the missions were even harder but the reward worth all of it. Prime weapons and frames, the most powerful items in the game. So our little duo grew up. We learned how to play as a team, how to use each other, how to obtain Void Keys, how to survive in Primes and how to obtain the rarest mods in there. At the same time, still playing as a duo, we built a Dojo and made all the researches and all the rooms in it. But day after day, Update after Update we had only one goal - become stronger and smarter than the system to get this Prime Stuff. And then came the "dark times".

The system 2.0 arrived and completely broke the game. But we accepted it with a smile. After all, isn't it another try of the system to make the game harder? Even if it completely ruins all the work that you have done on your weapons. At the same time, the maximum number of ranks went from 10 to 20. At that time, I was rank 7 and deadmen 9. That day both of us earned a free rank. It also created a huge problem but I'll speak about it a bit later. The founder program was closed. Deadmen and I are masters and we both invest two or three hundreds of euros in that, but we agreed that stop the founders was a good idea. We are way too much and the concilium chat is actuelly looks lika a common region chat, which is a pity and a shame...

At the same time our duo were hunting Prime Stuff. Frost, Latron and Reaper first. Then we obtained Excalibur and Skana, followed by Mag, Ember and Rhino with associated stuff. We never bought a single Prime Access and we prefered to obtain stuff by the traditional way.

And now that I got all of them, after nearly 500 hours ingame, rank 12 (deadmen is rank 13), I'd like to say :

I can understand and forgive that now we have a Orokin Derelict which is beautiful but empty and with tons of bugs.

I can understand and forgive that now we have so easy primes that a rank 3 can be in Primes and have absolutely no problems.

I can understand anf forgive that now high-ranked players are bored being in Prime. Remember the T3 Defence U9&10 - last wave drom 20, enemies are level 130... And now?

I can understand and forgive that now ranks are meaningless. I am rank 12 playing from U7/8 and I have a guy in the clan rank 12 playing for about 3 months and who totally ignores the main idea of the game. I call him 'The King of Kappa".

I can understand and forgive that now we have resources as rewards in Prime. Cell Orokin is a rare ressource, ok. Morphics? Not reanny, but nevermind. Control Modules? I have about 1.5k of them, so...

But what I can't understand and forgive, is that the rewards in Prime became useless. And I don't speak about credits or ressources. I speak about fusion cores. Uncommon silver fusion cores. As a reward for 5 and 15 mins of t2 survival. The same uncommon silver cores that you get by dozens in regular t1/t2 Prime missions. You can see it by yourself...

For me, this situation is extremely sad. All the prestige that we loved so much is now definitely gone. The Prime, and nearly all the game is now ruled by beginners who have tons of cash, who buy all the ready stuff and explain to everybody how to play and how to live. The Prime offers no more challenge. The Ranks are meaningless.

Is our duo the only players who fells the same? What do you think about that?

Anyway, I hope this game will one day be as excellent as I used to see it. But for now, for me, the Void is dead. Rest In Peace, Void.

Sincerely yours

To me, it is not as much as "rest in peace void", it is more "rest in peace void treasures". At least you have what appears to be an ankyros prime gauntlet in 20 minutes, and fusion cores. People have done T3 survival and have credit caches drop at 5,10, and 15 minutes and then got forma BP at 20 minutes (hint: it was me). But yes, your arguments are sound. I agree that much.

Disclaimer before I talk just in case the Rhino Prime avatar fools you: I'm rank 10, and farmed 3 primes under my own power before purchasing.

I'm not personally against Prime Trading. I'm against the unviability of grinding as compared to trading. Having a 20% chance every 15ish minutes at an unknown and probably low percent chance just isn't fun.
The trading route is a 100% chance after 15 minutes for an unknown but likely high percent chance at getting an item I can sell for the funds to buy an item I want. I've gone from an hour of grinding just for one shot at a piece of an item. To two hours of grinding and trading to be done completely.
Players with cash are only going for the cash route because the regular route is entirely bogged down with rng wall after rng wall. There is no deterministic end to the grinding except to sell the parts you've earned but don't want, to buy the parts you want but don't have.

i agree with void rewards..i also agree that new players with tons of cash are changing the game... as far as the trade system. i both love and hate it.

i love that when i give up grinding out for a rhino prime chasis that i can just go pick one up if i feel like getting robbed. but at the same time newbs with money can buy  every prime item and affinity boosters. there is no more prestige about prime items... sad

I got Ankyros gauntlets at every 10th game at the 20th minute.

To got 2, 20 games. Which means 400 minutes. Which is 6 hours 40 minutes.

For Rhino prime Chassis we played as well 20 minutes per game, for about 25/30 games before having it.

But my record was Ember Prime Blueprint. About 70 T3 capture at that time ))))

I began playing apparently when update 12 came so I am relatively new to the game, but the big jump from decent to mediocre rewards on Void Missions was noticeable enough, is easier to get like 5 uncommon cores in any defense or survival mission anywhere (even in the same mission when you get one as a reward), according to some other players it becomes the norm to see less and less rewards every time new stuff is introduced, I just wonder if the developers really feel that pissing off F2P costumers and basically kicking them under the pressure of having to pay to have some fun is a profitable solution in the long run.

I'm cautiously optimistic that Focus will be the new prime swag/long-term player goal.

All weapons should be mastery locked, regardless of their attainment method. However, primes end up without locks bc DE won't make any money from non-plat tradable, non-marketplace weapons. Sigh.

OP, your thread inspired this:

Guys, you can't imagine how happy I am when I see that deadmen and me are not alone to see that... If you have some more things to say about that, go on... Who knows? Perhaps some DE would read it...

The worst thing is : some people could say - "If you hate this game so much, quit! Nobody will stop you!" Indeed. But I do not hate that game. It's the opposite. And I'd love to restore the "old school" qualtiy of the players and of the game...

The question is : how?...

Very good question, and I just been to kappa (a place I never go), that place doesn't make sense at all, ppl play bad and are ok with it.

Just to be clear, one guy alone was doing all the job of killing, being far nobody was winning affinity by share.

The rest of the team ok, with staying near the console doing nothing.

At the end we all stayed around for 2 minutes to collect all the resources and mods spread all over that big map, because it makes more sense then killing them near and collect all them right there.

And that is it, ppl play bad, they dont get what they are loosing, and are happy about it, yet DE only worries about rushers, and not the fact gameplay is getting so bad, that all the game design they made is being ignored.

People complaining about reward during DOUBLE RESOURCES WEEK! Cry me a river. Ok so Void mission doesn't bring you rare 5 Cores. So do something else. I get Rare5 Cores by doing Infested Survival all the time. I got like 5 of them from my last one. So what!!!!

That's exactly what I wanted to show. The guy from PS4 didn't even try to read and say crap about things he has no idea... Newbies rules the world...

I get where you are coming from.

The risk vs reward scenario is somewhat muddled at this point. Back in the day, you had risk and you got real rewards for it (voids also seemed harder back then to me), even if it wasn't exactly what you wanted.

Now you have to get lucky enough to find the needed key, then be lucky enough to get a worthwhile drop after you've run the mission itself.

If you aren't that brand of lucky you have little and less to show for the effort nowadays.

Part of the issue is that they have bulked the Void drop table with fluff. Another part is that they have made the keys needed to get the more worthwhile stuff more difficult and random to acquire.

ODD should be rewarding T1-T3 keys based on enemy difficulty. Fighting a lvl 88+ infested enemy only to get a T1 keys is disheartening

T1 Voids should be rewarding T1-T3 keys based on mob difficulty

T2 voids should be rewarding T2-T3 keys based on difficulty

T3 keys should be offering T2-T3 keys as a side reward along with what ever item you would normally have earned base on enemy level when you extract and player score.

Cores need to be removed from the void as rewards and should only be available from containers. Remove the junk mods and ability mods.

Even with all the fluff and heartache, the upside to Warframe is that the game still isn't P2Win... That's saying something for a Free-to-play game right now.

That's quite unrelated to the topic at hand.

Yes, I totally agree.  Like you, being rank 12 and getting ankyros to drop then complaining.

I only have 2 complaints really:

1.) Nothing to do anymore. Im level 15 and leveled everything except the Detron. I actually log in and look at the Star Chart for  5 min thinking "Hm what do I do now?" You should just be able to get exp through grinding without the Weapon level system, most of em suck anyways. That way I would grind to level 99 regardless if there's a specific reward for it or not and be totally fine with it. I'll get the Detron eventually since I always rush through the invasions as soon as they come out, which brings me to my next point.

2.) Artificially slowing down good players. Like many have already said the lights that slow you down by zapping you arent a challenge, they just suck. I admit in the beginning it is hard to keep up, but you get better eventually. Its called becoming skilled at a game and everyone has to go through it, just like learning to aim well. I used to rush through with Volt+Max Sprint now I find myself playing Trinity more often than not even though I usually just get her out for 45+ min survivals.(And I still rush). Warframe is a fast paced game, thats the way it is. Otherwise I just let the new players go ahead as cannon fodder and revive em when they get zapped every few meter, that cant have been the designers goal right? ;-)

I can bet that you haven't read a single word of what I wrote...

The maximum rank of the open beta test is 15 and a half. They will give us more weapons, sentinals, frames in the next updates. Like thins new sentinel - Helios.

But it still doesn't change nothing to the Void missions...
