XxMAGGOTxX
Well, from what I hear, ice mods would proc each time. Now, I don't think every bullet should be similar to Frost's avalanche, but we really only get the good stuff (i.e. lasting effects) with mod combos. However, I don't think this is viable. For instance, ice should slow down and have a small lasting damage effect each shot, and when it procs, have a huge impact that freezes them in place or straight up breaks them into icy little pieces if their health is low enough. Fire should cause some more damage on the lasting effects, maybe some running around for a small amount of time. Poison should have some heavy lasting damage effects and electricity will have some lasting damage effects along with some convulsing for a short period of time. Obviously 10 damage a second would be a bit overpowered for an unranked Cryo Rounds, but maybe 3 damage a second or some other number. My whole point is, we shouldn't have to wait for a proc or something useful on an RNG that doesn't even do that well. There are few guns that do proc well, and even then, you have to rely on RNG. I think it would be much more viable to have these little effects to make up for it, and save the big things for a proc chance that actually went through. Because all these mods do right now, is look pretty on your gun and do more damage. If I really wanted more damage, I would just slap on a max Serration, max Puncture, Slash and Impact mods. I want to see some effects and have these mods as more useful. Right now, the only thing that they are useful for other than extra damage and looking pretty, is a chain combo. But why? I don't know if anyone else feels the same way, but I think this is something that we need pretty badly. It's hard to justify putting elemental mods on your guns for no other reasons than the ones stated before. Does anyone agree with this at all? Sorry for the long rant, but I think this is a much better alternative than having to wait for RNG to give us the effects. Edit: I also don't mean to sound like an @$$, if I came across that way I am truly sorry. Edited March 18, 2014 by XxMAGGOTxX

Superdoo
Before they changed the damage system, that was the way the elemental mods worked.
XxMAGGOTxX
I know, and it made them much more viable. It made them useful. You didn't have to use all different types of elemental mods to get something out of it. You only needed one, saving you room for other things. Sure, when you wanted a power build you can do that, but why not make them more useful? Right now as it is, elemental mods are just decorations. Nothing more. Why not bring it back? It's not overpowered slowing a target down for a couple seconds, it just makes it more useful. Just the same as my suggestion for Frost, making him more CC and having the leftovers from those who didn't die by his Avalanche, frozen in place. It wouldn't be jacking up the power to an enormous amount of overpowered godliness (Nova), but it just makes it more useful for different situations. Just the same as my mod suggestion. Useful, not overpowered. It's not blowing them all up each shot, it's not doing insane amounts of lasting damage (Acrid), but it makes these things useful and more than just wall-hangers, or a combo string of a bunch of damage mods to make them useful. On their own, they aren't useful. Sure, make them more powerful when stringed together, get different lasting effects, but lets have some lasting effects every couple of seconds each shot. I want my mods to be useful, not pretty. There's nothing pretty about burning or freezing someone. I hope DE takes this into account, because this would mean elemental mods would have much more of a place in game.
