You can do so by clicking the icon in the top left of the UI, then on your profile window, click the avatar to bring up the avatars you have unlocked. Changing your avatar in game will change your avatar on the forums--though it may take up to 24 hours to apply. Additional avatars can be purchased for platinum through the market.
