Prime And Wraith Items Almost Universaly Look Worse Than Their Regular Counterparts

There are exceptions to this rule. Personally i think Rhino and Excalibur Prime  look better than the regulars. Braton prime looks pretty decent. Glaive prime looks pretty awesome. but on the whole; many prime items look worse than their regular counterparts. The whole thread is obviously subjective. But that subjectivity probably isn't entirely unpopular. Even if you like the look of the prime/wraith stuff; the customisation is still pretty poor in comparison to the regular stuff.

Take paris prime for example. Paris looks excellent. Paris prime is vile. Those large chunky tubes of gold that wrecks any colour scheme, that fat, bizar and impractical bow design. It's all wrong. In my opinion paris prime is  the ugliest weapon in the game. It might be the worst offender but that doesn't mean the rest are good. The rest of the prime weapons don't have arm thick tube-rims of gold around them. Yet still there's that problem of gold; Gold doesn't realy go well with most colour schemes. Even if you, say, like the boltor prime's look; you can't realy customise it because it's covered in gold. It probably clashes with several warframes and on the whole everything could look nicer.

With the wraith items the problem is mostly due to the colour scheme. The pattern is fine; but unless you've gone for a dark and edgy grim-dark black and red frame it probably doesn't fit with what you've got. With the twin vipers It wasn't too upsetting; they were small and, ignoring the glowing red energy,  not so visible at a distance. The gorgon however; vile. It's huge. Here i am, white and purple and sleek. In my hands there's a black log with red paint all over it.

I SUPPOSE, if i realy wanted to, I could pay 20 plat for a camo.  But the wraith pattern itself is actually good and if someone were to cover it in camo they'd loose a part of what makes it wraith. To other players it'd be indistinguishable from the regular gorgon. You'd loose your special *w***er bragging rights and nobody wants that.

*it didn't filter that word?

Continuing on from our prime discussion; Warframes.

As stated before. Excalibro and his overweight whino counterpart look better than standard versions.

Mag though; Christ. The original mag is a great looking frame. The prime version has the head of a hideous beetle. With frost I'd say that the golden ribcage on his head can both be an asset or a source of despair for anyone who likes good looking frames. The original poster (me, hopefully) has both alt helms and immortal skins for these characters and i use those skins to escape from the horrible default.

I don't have much to say about ember. They both look nice,  But I should mention that, in my opinion, Prime looks better with the regular ember helmet and regular looks better with the prime helmet. You can preview the mixup if you have both frames but you can't actually have them equip each-other's helmets. It's a shame.

I suppose all these issues could be fixed if
1: wraith textures were colourable

2: Prime gold was colourable or at least had the option to go silver/black/white/bronze

3: Prime frames could use the standard helmet.

4: the design of paris prime wasn't so @(*()$ $&*&*#(%&.

does anyone have any agreements/disagreements/personal opinions on specific prime items that they'd like to add to this?

Yeah, subjectivity is a funny thing.

I'm reminded of an old saying I once heard that seems to apply here:

"Everyone is entitled to their wrong opinion"

My view is that:

- The Wraith schemes look universally good

- The Vandal stuff look okay but not bad (definitely no worse than the originals).

- Most of the Prime Gear looks pretty damned cool, (except the Paris Prime) love that gold.

Sorry. I think they all look better than their regular counterparts.

Sorry OP. You're entitled to your own opinion, and I'm entitled to mine.

And I say, Primes/Wraiths look much, much better than their regular counterparts.

Who said Primes need to look like their regular counterparts? The regular ones are of Tenno design, and the Primes are created by the Orokin, according to lore.

I'm ok with almost every prime except the Paris Prime (I loved my old Paris but goddamn!) That thing is hideous! It's a giant deformed metal butterfly! It has nothing to go by colour wise and it clips through everything! I would love for it to get a new optional model. Something more closely resembling the Paris.

As for Vandals and Wraiths, I don't mind. I like the colour scheme.

I can only assume the people liking the primes are walking around with giant gold pendants around their neck and various other bling?

lol

No.

People who just like a bit more of style. Like Ember Prime looks great. Frost Prime has a nifty helmet. Boltor Prime is nice. Latron Prime definitely looks better than the basic. Lato Prime? Easily better. Braton Prime? Easily better. All easy examples.

Most of the Primes just look better aside from an obvious few like Mag Prime, Skana Prime (doesn't look significantly different) and to an extent, Burston Prime (simply because it needs A BETTER BASE MODEL THAN A 'BOX').

If they were dark metallic silver rather than gold, they would still look better. The originals just do not look as unique or interesting. To say otherwise is peculiar in my opinion. Granted, I definitely do not think the Paris Prime is amazing to look at.

ALL the Primes (even Mag Prime's helmet) look odd, but better than the regular counterparts, IMO. I even think the Orokin void is the best tileset in the game.

But you have your opinion, OP. You keep running around with the standard stuff, and I'll flash my 'worse' gold stuff in your face ;p

You can actually equip the standard helmet

Prime Warframes CAN use the standard helmet. I used to roll my Mag Prime with the Standard issue helm until I got the Coil helmet.

They used to be able to. But now I can't equip the standard ones (not like I really care, anyway)

What do you mean about skana prime? The prime is significantly different in appearance to the normal skana.
