...who I will not name because I'm sure there's a "naming and shaming" policy on the forums.

 

He's been using Vauban to troll players on Mimas all night and it's getting old really quick.  I got to give him credit though, he knows what he's doing.  Got me trapped in a hallway for a good 30 seconds bouncing around.  Anywho...

 

My question is I used the "report" function and selected "harassment" but it didn't ask me to comment.  It just submitted the complaint.  Now, without an explanation how is DE supposed to know what this guy is doing?

 

This is especially concerning since the report function says that if it's a "false report" that action will be taken against MY account?

Your best bet when it comes to reporting players for griefing, take a screenshot of what they're doing, screencap their name and submit a Support Ticket.

 

I'm not really sure how the in-game report tool even works, but I know that support tickets are where I go whenever I want to report a player for griefing.

Next question, I put the guy on /ignore.  Will that prevent me from being grouped with him again?

I'd recommend going the extra mile and getting some video evidence.

I would imagine so, it would be silly to be grouped with someone whom you cannot see in chat.
