Helios Is Not Even Worth The Research.

So, I had 75 platinum. Woo.

Decided to pick up Helios. Why not? I need the scans, and he completes the sentinel collection again, so may as well.

Allow me to just forewarn you, Don't even bother with this thing unless you're grinding mastery. It does not perform as you'd think.

I can safely say that this is probably the worst 75 plat I've ever dropped in the history of warframe, and I bought Loki despite how easily farmable he is. (was? I haven't gone against the hyena pack full force, dunno how much a of a pain they might be...)

For a brief review, This sentinel is supposed to scan things, and then kill them.

Sounds good on paper, right?

Well, this is far from the case in actual game play. Testing from Mercury to Pluto, I've found a few things wrong with this sentinel that absolutely break it's value to me, probably moreso than Djinn. and it's worthless fatal attraction.

My problem?

The Sentinel takes far too long to scan sometimes. *tableflip*

I'm not certain if this is a bug, or intended, but even at max rank the scan function is taking 2-3x longer to scan immobile objects than had I just equipped my own scanner, done the deed, and moved on. (because I really need more storage crate scans.)

On moving enemies, The scan can happen as fast as it takes for the sentinel to kill the enemy itself or it can take 4-5x as long as my own scan.

I also believe that the sentinel can sometimes miss a scan or maybe it just forgets to scan things completely. Occasionally against Grineer on Pluto, he would stealth scan one enemy and just sit there with me until I left their area and came back into Investigator's range.

This is my main problem because this is the WHOLE reason to bother with Helios. It's the same reason why nobody totes around a Djinn or Dethcube seriously, the main function of it just doesn't beat out other sentinel's abilities...But this time, the main precept is worth less than something I can do easier and of more free will than anything else any other sentinel offers. Hell, Djinn tries to tank/explode gloriously, and even Wyrm can knock down some enemies without me having to jump attack every now and then. Dethcube even has this cute little nuke laser that makes a fun party noise.

Helios? This...thing? It gets nervous, confused, and then poos a scan on a pinecone on earth. GG riot.

Oh wait, The weapon. There's the weapon, too.

Can anyone tell me why they would use this weapon when it cannot be modded for faster reload beyond whirlwind, actually has a longer reload if you try to increase AOE or range with bounce and reach, and has the range of a Galatine with a superiority complex?

The only benefit I can find is that it has a proc chance of 25% unmodded. Take that for what you will.

This isn't terribly horrendous, as none of the sentinel weapons are worth taking over Sweeper IMO, but this weapon here just feels more like a try at a gimmick weapon, more than an effective cover fire tool, something that one time, I was bored and lucky to have a sniper-y Djinn around to proc blast against a heavy gunner while I was being rez'd. That's marginally more than I can say for this weapon.

Also, this is a personal Nitpick, but he's trying to take my precious Kestrel mods. ;_;

On one final note:

Really Guys???? We voted for @(*()$ Helios as the name????

Helios is a dumb name for a Sentinel. Lets hope the Kubrow isn't the same flop when it comes out.

Who cares about names? New sentinel and his weapon sucks - thats the problem. So far DE can safely remove all other sentinels besides Carrier (for 99% of population) and Shade (for those strange people) and every bloody Sentinel weapons except Sweeper and Dartgun.

Nobody will miss anything. Can we have a balancing patch for Sentinels? I just wonder how "peashooters" like Burst Laser can compete with BFG like Sweeper?

And for love of god DE - dont you dare to make Sweeper as useless as Burst Laser. What the point of modding Sentinel weapons if you basicly try to increase the nonexistant dmg?

People still take dethcube... that LASER IS AWESOME...

Also I prefer helios over Carrier. Vaccuums are only good on events where I NEED to collect something otherwise it better be killing something, or something productive like scanning stuff to give me extra affinity.

Odd. It seems to be scanning things pretty quickly for me. In only 2 rounds of Kappa, it already used up 92 Codex Scanners, and scanned quite a lot of objects/enemies. I know because I have never actually used a Codex Scanner before. The weapon also sounds nice, and I love the sentinel design.

Trying some kappa now. 1 round, 11 scans.

Glad to know I have to be in a corpus mosh pit to get some free scans.

Good feedback. Except its not in the feedback forum. I'm sure DE will be looking for a lot more and make some adjustments for the better of this new sentinel.

Bunch of threads in Feedback sesction. This one seems to be most popular because... General Discussion. Feedback section is just too way down to scroll for most people.

That sentinel was mastery food to me before I even read its description. I've been waiting for a sentinel that picks up loot since before they got introduced, since the day they first talked about sentinels during the livestreams. So I don't think anything will replace the Carrier for me.

Well, Kubrow might be fun for a while, but I'll most likely switch back to Carrier once I had my little fun.

Having said that, I was hoping that the new sentinel would at least get me lots of scans before I max it out.

You mean its STILL not fixed?

Got into the habit of running a mission or three once a week to see if gameplay makes me forget the mountain of things I dislike about DE's direction in WF currently. Since there was an update thought today was a good day.

The Braton starters I met in two Earth interception runs were beaten like red-headed step-Tenno just like before, If someone is not there to carry them or at least work the two chokepoints so they can play around in the terminals... Let's just say starters should get a Masochist Badge for beating Earth atm.
