Helios Sentinel Feedback

Hi there, it's my first post, but it's the first time I feel compelled to do so.

This sentinel is a real disappointment.

It needs 5 seconds to perform a scan : first its target flickers in red, and 5 seconds later it flickers in blue, meaning that the scan is complete.

Why the mod leveling doesn't decrease the scanning time down to a reasonnable lapse like something between 1 and 2 seconds ? In a game where most of the mission present enemies I can one shot, it's a bit annoying.

In a mission with the usual pace, you'll scan about 3 things, usually containers or consoles, and perhaps 1 enemy.

Not what I was expecting.

The glaive weapon is powerful, but suffers from the same flaws as its big brothers : low rate of hiting, big damage, slow moving thing... It seems silent though (tested with a loki in a stealth mission).

If you are willing to spend the 5 seconds next to an unaware enemy for him to be scanned, then you could just as much scan it yourself, from a farther distance and in only about a second...

Yes, a real disappointment.

Oh, and "Pressure Point" and other melee weapons damage modifiers have no effect. Just use "Heavy Trauma" and elemental mods.

gj on copying screenshot from wikki and you realise its bugged at its state right

Yep, on the wiki it's my answer. So I copied/paste my own text. I'll rewrite it, though, if it's so unbearable.

The only bug I can see is the melee weapon. As far as I am concerned, I think that they intended the scan to be that slow, so that the manual scan has an interest. However, it's currently useless. Only use I can see is it can double scan an enemy : once manually, and once with the sentinel.

i guessed it was you it was just odd that it was a screnshot and not text

In fact, I copied the text, but the grey background was copied with it too. I was surprised too, I admit.

EDIT : I edited it so that the text is now with the dark background.

Use whirlwind and charge speed mods. if its like the glaive. Yes, the scan speed is a bit slow. Leveling it is bloody slow

That was a very good idea. However, Killing Blow has no effect on the displayed stat. Perhaps does it work, but I couldn't see it on the indicated damage. Thanks anyway :)

I also tried the charge speed mods, no displayed effect on "reload time".

seems like a waste of a sentinel any way i look at it.

its weapon cant be equipped on other sentinels.

takes photos far too slow.

codex is a waste of time anyways, you can easily ignore it and miss nothing.

has nothing unique or interesting over the other sentinels.

i can safely ignore it which seems a shame :(

Well, I like codex for the presentation of enemies. Can be usefull for guides. And it's the codex that can help people know the weaknesses and drop tables of the ennemies, and that's what's used for people to complete wiki.

However, since some of us are already completely into fulfulling the codex, not everybody has to.

If they had introduced Helios alongside the Codex, it would have been really useful. Now I'm mostly missing Crawler and Seeker variants and those darned Scavenger Drones. No point in building a sentinel that will do the scans for me, if it'll only contribute to already over-scanned entries ...

You can still sell it to new players, but 1) they have to know about the Codex and that there's a special sentinel that can help them fill it, 2) 5 seconds scan time vs. ~2 seconds for "manual" scans is still a reason to rather pick Shade and stealth-scan ...

Excellently put.

theres a reason ppl use the wiki and not the codex, because the codex is too damned slow/stupid and people want important information quickly, not wasting heaps of time building a pointless pokedex.

the codex doesnt really have a reason to exist tbh, its like a badly made sideshow/minigame that got stuffed in, it should be negating the need to visit the wiki but it doesnt, not by a long shot, its just another time wasting irritation.

....imho

new players are going to be far too frustrated early on to care about the codex system esp with the vastly limited resources/mods/weapons they have, its like giving an elementary school kid a book of answers to a phd test, theres just no need/use for it.
