Yes they are dead!

·         Broken Lights have now been replaced with Grineer Traps. The latest iteration of this mechanic replaces hard to spot Broken Lights with more visible Grineer Traps.
o   These Traps  deal Damage Over Time as opposed to one pulse of damage.
o   These Traps can be spotted form a distance and targeted to damage nearby enemies.

I preferred the lights tbh.

For one they were easier to spot in my eyes and the chunk of damage never distracted me from combat.

Plus they weren't a problem to copter past either.

My only problem was the binding flash.

Am yet to run into these new Grineer traps though.

So now they are no longer a gearcheck and EVERY SINGLE ONE can be spotted and dealt with before they take effect as long as you're trying to spot them, right? Or is their placement still prevent skillful play? What about spawn room?

yes, they are no longer hidden.....now all those people running around with no health no shields and no armor cause they "just don't need them" don't have to worry about it..and the rest of us,,who didnt worry about it in the first place, can keep on playing like usual.

Why ? Those light was pretty much stupid , explain me "HOW" a light could hit you because its broken , will you? And even if you find a way to explain , then explain why they do not hit Grineer? only once? You are saying rusher win again , just take a rhino and run Iron skin > your whining

Again , this thread should be closed it's going to end with Rusher VS Ultra slow guy I mean no rusher

Now lets add sirens and warning posters saying BE WARNED TRAP HERE with a big red arrow pointing at the trap and yes by all means Lets call them "TRAPS". Hoped the flash would be removed and an interval added that you can be hit by a trap once every 5-10 seconds and it would all be good :/

yes, and a special highlighted icon on the map, that flashes when you get near to the location so people can be aware of it...wouldnt want them to get caught off guard or anything. after all, we don't need shields or health mods, we just have to convince the devs not to make anything that his our health or shields.

Ok... um... Let me see...

Metal ceiling, walls, floor...  Electricity arcing from busted wires?

Oh, wait. My bad. Electricity doesn't arc through metal in the Warframe universe, does it?

Having SEEN a person put a shovel into a primary power line (I was told @30000 volts) I personally have NO problem imagining a makeshift electric trap made by Grineer to catch unwary intruders. It was... spectacular. He lived. According to Power Company guys and firefighters, "Luckiest SOB on the face of the Earth".

Yes, lets make sure that every single trap in the game is so BLATANTLY BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS so that it defeats the purpose. Was it OP before? Yes. Is it even remotely useful now? No.

I don't mind difficult traps. What I care about are well designed traps.

The broken light "traps" were terribly designed from almost every perspective.

From a logical point of view, they made no sense. They were "broken lights" with the ability to differentiate friend/foe, and behaved absolutely nothing like a "broken light.

From a gameplay point of view, they had the potential to kill you before you even loaded and were sometimes unavoidable, a big no-no.

I haven't seen their replacement yet, but the old implementation was horrid in multiple ways.

People are saying the the broken light were ok, let me tell you: they were NOT. there were time I spawned, the animation of my Warframe getting out of the air vent and being shocked by it without the animation ending, and if someone says we take no damage, I WILL correct you.

The most annoying case was the lights right above the doors and on the other side, I passed by it slowly, looking up because I heard the damn light, I just saw the arcs of eletricity and got shocked, my cross hair didnt even get close to pointing at it so I could shot it and evade the damage, or when you have to make a jump in that platform with arcs of eletricity down below: you jump forward and the broken light that was bellow the platform you just jumped off of shockes you, and people complaining of THIS is called WHINING by some?! I facepalm, HARD!

Bring one of your brand new warframes to those kind of title sets, or maybe that Loki you didnt put any shield or health mods because it was an invisble build and theorically you didnt need it, its damage to health if you get a 2nd shock before the shields go up, BTW it could know who was a Tenno or a Grineer, so only YOU got shocked.

The traps were a logical change, they will target only the Tenno, will make sense that they MUST be hidden so we have to pay attention, DoT is better so we can get the HELL out the way it is, and see where the damn thing is from its arc (unless its inside the wall -.-U)

Overall, I welcome those changes, they might need tweaks on placement and/or damage, but the idea of "traps" instead of "broken lights" is solid and logical, so I accept this change, its a new game mechanic, and I will be able to adapt to it.

You've got to a pretty special kind of player to try and defend the broken lights.

Can't see the them? Check

Can't avoid them? Check.

Overpowered? Check

Game breaking? Check

Completely illogical in how they function? Check

Unfair? Check

Yeah, a great idea, bring them back.

another Whiner Victory... should be their own faction

My biggest concern with the broken lights was how they would effect the experience for new players. Please keep in mind that Grineer Ships are the first maps new players encounter, and the lights easily could insta-kill them without any warning.

To be fair I feel like high powered traps in general should be left out of mercury altogether (or be treated as an enemy and scale with area level, so that way they're weak at first and improve the player by learning, and not destroying their experience), and introduced later on as players have gotten their feet wet. So many people on these forums forget that there are new players every day, and something like the broken lights could easily turn them off within their first mission. Especially when the lights could be right behind them as they spawn, and kill them immediately.
