Installing Mods

I've been playing Warframe for a very long time and I still don't fully understand where mods are supposed to be installed on weapons and well everything for that matter! The only thing I really know is Top left to bottom right? So when I install mods I place the mods I care about most at the top left leading to the bottom right as the ones that matter less to me in the build. Am I doing this correctly? Also when you forma something I also do the same thing I do when Installing mods I place my forma starting top left leading to bottom right. Now I feel I'm doing this all horribly wrong as some guns when you get them, example being the Boltor Prime it has a D and a V polarity slot already on it but the D is top left and the V is bottom right. So that right there makes me think wtf... 

 

So long story short I need some help on what mods go where and why same thing when using a forma, but at least now I can re arrange my forma. So guns like my Soma I've put 3 forma in it and the top 4 slots are all V attack and the bottom Left is a - polarity slot.

 

Anyways I'm sure this has been asked many times but even the new codex in game manual don't really explain where mods go and why.

the mod location only applies to elemntal mods for weapons

 

and sentinal mods

 

for guns :

 

Which ever elemental mod you want to mix together make sure they go in pairs.

 

FIRE + POSION + ICE = GAS + ICE

 

If you did

 

FIRE + ICE + POSION = BLAST + POSION

Then for sentinals

 

it will activate in order

1 TOP LEFT         |        2TOP RIGHT

3 BOTTOM LEFT | 4 BOTTOM RIGHT

all mods go anywhere, matching the polarity to save up more mod capacity.

 

the only thing you should follow is the arrangement of elemental mods.

It does not matter in which order you place your mods or where you place your mods, except for:

 

• Elememtal mods: the order of these mods determine which elements will be combined (from top left to bottom right)

   

• Sentinel abilities: the order of these mods determine the priority of the abilities (from top left to bottom right)
