DeathKoala
The devs have been asked this multiple times. The answer is always, without fail, a resounding "no."
Angius
DE said, that if anything, we will get opposite gender frames, with the same theme, but different set of abilities. I'd say, that DE needs to cover most of the archetypes first, to make another batch of pretty much the same theme.
Noogums
The Devs see it as a waste of a Warframe to just do a simple gender-swap. Instead, they'd rather make an opposite gender within the same theme.Example: Blaze. Male Fire Warframe with his own stats and abilities.

zergla
Nyx used to be a female Excalibro actually. EDIT: in early development that is. Edited March 29, 2014 by zergla
LGear
AFAIK they did play around with the possibility at one point: they made a working female Excalibur model for instance. However, they shelved the idea later, so said female Excalibur became Nyx instead.

Hadouk-EN-
Hi! So yeah, just what i said in the title. Would it be better if all Warframes has a male and female model? I would love to use Nyx or Nova but the thing is.... the model bothers me since i'm a male and using a female character is sort of awkward for me especially when my friends showed and saw me playing using a female character. Can we please add this to the next update? Or maybe the 13 update since this one will be a big one. Thank you for reading and i hope this suggestion is agreeable :)

Try playing any korean f2p mmo as a female character having to stare at their bare &#!. As for male and female characters. As far as I'm concerned you're just weaing a suit. Whoever is inside the frame isn't disclosed as being male/female.
Aka_Miso
Nyx was the idea for excals female counter part but then they scraped the idea and gave her her own abilities and type also dude it doesn't matter if your a guy playing a fem chara there were page long threads of people talking about this no one cares and one more thing its better than having all the charas be guys cause that would be a sexist sausage fest Edited April 1, 2014 by Sasoka
Vanhline
they were going with that way back in the day, they ended up ditching it and the female Excalibur was used to make the nxy.

Sounds like your friends are jerks. Mine don't care. Also DE said no. And it definitely wouldn't be in U13
A1kona
This will never happen....it will take too much time to implement. Nyx was supposed to be the female model for excalibur but DE scrapped that idea. So yeah sorry to hear if playing a female is awkward
izzatuw
They talked about this, I don't think it's gonna happen. Look at Nyx and Excal. Nyx was an accident, a beautiful one. I honestly have no freaking problem playing as a female seeing as most of there powers are broken/better than most males in the game.
(PSN)ExG_BigBoss
so you and your friends are sexist basically? plus never going to happen buddy

Metsudo
If your friend called you out for using a female character in a game, they're rather juvenile. -EDIT- Also ask yourself this, if you are a person attracted to females, would you rather have to stare at a male or female figure in a 3rd person game? Angius
Ekhem... Ok, what was my standard post on this ocassion...Damn, I lost it, I can't quote myself... Well... DE said, that genderswapping is not going to happen. However, we may get second, genderswapped, set of frames with similar theme, but different abilities. For example - Blizzard (female Frost) wold also use ice, but she will have team buff, pure damage CC, stasis field and icickle barradge.

HillsAndTheSea
it sounds like you and your friends have some serious underlying issues if playing a female avatar warrants any ridicule or discomfort
Volt_Cruelerz
This comes up a lot. Basically it would require a lot more work for minimal gain. It's just not worth it.

Anatolius
Ember use to be male but they changed her DE has been some effort to make sure that the number of males to females is 1 to 1 which is why they alternate genders whenever a new frame in introduced (with exception to Banshee/Saryn) If you dont like being female there are 9 (about to be 10) male warframes and one indeterminate gender (Zephyr)
