Alternate Genders For Warframes Megathread

Honestly, my initial reaction to Warframe was that I'd only play male frames, but I was too tempted by what the female frames had to offer.

 

That was one of the best decisions I've ever made. You shouldn't let the sex of a Warframe affect your enjoyment of the game.

 

Now go out and kick some Grineer &#!.

Ember use to be male but they changed her

DE has been some effort to make sure that the number of males to females is 1 to 1

which is why they alternate genders whenever a new frame in introduced (with exception to Banshee/Saryn)

 

If you dont like being female there are 9 (about to be 10) male warframes and one indeterminate gender (Zephyr)

Zephyr isn't indeterminate, she's female...

 

You should be able to tell by body shape if nothing else. Not to mention the fact that she's stated as such in her introductory video.

If your friend called you out for using a female character in a game, they're rather juvenile.

Also ask yourself this, if you are a person attracted to females, would you rather have to stare at a male or female figure in a 3rd person game?

if anything i would ask DE to make the girls outfits a little more revealing :D

If your friends think it's weird to use a female in Warframe than I want you to gimme a squad that doesn't need a female in it. Plus using a female in WF is a must. But using females in games like Vindictus than...

zephyr seems to be female from what i have read and heard.

As for male and female characters. As far as I'm concerned you're just weaing a suit. Whoever is inside the frame isn't disclosed as being male/female.

No, but female players aren't necessarily going to want to play an over-sexualized female avatar either. And I for one absolutely refuse to play as such.

 

Playing a female Warframe and playing a scantily clad skank on a Korean mmo are two entirely different things.

Just tell your friends that there is nothing wrong playing as a female, and that it just shows that you ehm... Are not attracted to males. If you do that, your friends might aswell play as females

It's 2014 and it's sad that there are still stigmas about females in general when it comes to the video game industry. "Remember Me" was a great example, it almost wasn't published because publishers were hesitant about a female-led game, that it wouldn't appeal to players since perception is that the majority of gamers are male and that males only want to play as male characters. 

 

Elizabeth from BioShock Infinite was pushed to the back cover of the game as opposed to on the front cover behind Booker for a similar reason.

 

It's a little silly to be embarrassed about playing a female character in a video game, especially when the character is female in form and form alone.

Fair enough if you'd prefer it that way. But I think evidently the majority like the current system, including myself.

 

I think the standard genders give the frames each their unique character, you know. The histories behind the frames (although there isn't really any history behind them) could be shattered if we're able to change their physical shape. With this system each warframe is it's own "thing" as opposed to just being a type of thing. The moment you make the physical appearance changeable it opens up a whole world of copies, reducing the unique characteristics of each frame. Or so in my opinion anyway.

 

However I do think it would be interesting to see the opposite gender counter-part of each frame, as far as the artwork goes.

Is the inbuilt gender bias stupidity so deeply seated that it blocks even the ability to use the search function to see the many other threads that have discussed this ad nauseum?

 

Come on people, this question has been asked and answered. and for those who really want a hard answer:

 

If you aren't playing X frame because it is not the "right gender" for you the problem is with you and no one else, DE has stated it's not going to change.  Expecting the world to conform to your particularly narrow views is just a recipe for repeated disappointment.

In all my hours of testing the game during the period it had a female Excalibur I had never seen a female Excalibur leading me to actually question its existence. Hell when I told my friend about it he said I lost my mind even though we both played the game at the same time and he joked with me about getting it.

 

His amnesia aside. Anyone have an ingame image of a female Excalibur? Aside from the render and the video made by DE we do kinda lack proof of it.
