Ronyn
DE said gender swaps is probably not going to happen. However, "probably not" is not a definite "no" or "never!" Would it be worth it? hard to say. One does have to note that a lot of people pay money for cosmetic things in F2P games. If the alternate sex for each frame was something people had to pay for it may well earn DE some extra money. As for people making a big deal of this issue. CHILL OUT! Some folks have a preference in what sex their character is. That doesn't automatically mean they insecure, have gender bias or are sexually confused. It's just a matter of preference. Drop the second rate psychologist BS already.... I use to like to make all of my characters have a bald head. I did that because I kept head shaved at the time and it helped make my playable characters look like me. That doesn't mean I was insecure, had hair envy, or was biased against long haired people. Now that I have grown my hair out I tend to make characters with long hair for the same reason. To make them look like me. It's just about the fantasy of pretending I'm in the game. So I pick color schemes and shaping that reminiscent of myself or my persona. Sigh.. honestly I wish there was more moderation in these threads. These insinuations that people have sexual confusion and gender bias have no place in a forum.
Ionus
In all my hours of testing the game during the period it had a female Excalibur I had never seen a female Excalibur leading me to actually question its existence. Hell when I told my friend about it he said I lost my mind even though we both played the game at the same time and he joked with me about getting it. His amnesia aside. Anyone have an ingame image of a female Excalibur? Aside from the render and the video made by DE we do kinda lack proof of it. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130920221354/warframe/images/archive/d/d6/20131225194726%211379700904944.jpgBest I could do
Zeran7
Nope, and I don't even care about how the whole sexism issue, rather DE should work on new models of new warframes, weapons, and enemies. To remake each warframe models, textures, animations, so that everyone gets a gender representation of their choosing takes up too much time when they could be working on new stuff Edited April 1, 2014 by Zeran7

Ronyn
I like the female frames, also I rather stare at a female then at a male. \o_O/ Nothing wrong with that either. It's all just preference. Of course where are all the anti-gender swap people to come and accuse you of secretly wanting to be female or being some sort of sexual deviant? Nope. they wont do that. Because for most of them all of their judgement isn't really based on any psychological point of view it's just using whatever excuse they can t push their own preference by insulting other folks preferences. Yeah I remember that, in one of the Trailers D.E. made there was a female excalibur. I dismissed it as a work in progress Nyx however, I will see if I can find the video. HAHAH! Found it! Also, I have no strong feelings one way or the other on this topic. It would be cool, but unnecessary. Edited April 1, 2014 by Utarious
Cryozar
Hi! So yeah, just what i said in the title. Would it be better if all Warframes has a male and female model? I would love to use Nyx or Nova but the thing is.... the model bothers me since i'm a male and using a female character is sort of awkward for me especially when my friends showed and saw me playing using a female character. Can we please add this to the next update? Or maybe the 13 update since this one will be a big one. Thank you for reading and i hope this suggestion is agreeable :) suggestion isn't agreeable. It's really childish to want ask for this JUST because you let your "friends" influence you. Are you not wrecking the grineer/corpus/infested/corrupted? My Little Pony has guys watching it and you don't see them caring what others think. Grow up and enjoy playing your favorite warframe because you like using them, not because someone said so. They only mess with you because you care
Sh1n3y
I also wish there were male/female counterparts to each frame. I am a girl and I just don't like playing as bulky ugly males with long.... yeah.... I'd much rather play as a female. I have all the female frames and am hesitant to start making the male ones. Vauban and Rhino both appeal to me as frames, but.... they're just ugly. Not in reality. They did a nice job making them, but females are just prettier... But I doubt it will ever happen. Not too big a deal for me.

Can we please add this to the next update? This is a non-issue. DE is not going to add ~20 new characters because you are uncomfortable playing one half of them, because of the way they look. To remake each warframe models, textures, animations, so that everyone gets a gender representation of their choosing takes up too much time when they could be working on new stuff I appreciate that you are at least not getting involved with the judgmental BS. I do have a question though... are you sure that DE couldn't make a bunch of extra money selling alternate genders for each frame? Cause if they could, it could potentially give DE the resources necessary to expand the team and in turn give us more content and more new frames even faster. Just a hypothetical of course, I just think it's worth considering.
Teqnologyque
I dunno about anyone else, but I am 100% fine playing a female character (Even though I main Males). Reason: "If I'm seriously gonna be staring at this screen for hours at a stretch, with the back-side of one character always in focus, and always on the screen, I'm at least going to make sure I enjoy it." My response to my sister about why I play female characters in Fallout/Elder Scrolls. Plus, I dunno if anyone noticed; Saryn and Ember have a fairly decent wiggle when they move. May just be the Generic animations applied to the mesh though...

BloodKitten
pretend your most favorit game series had a game where you play the oppiset sex, would you really pass over it due to something so trivial? im a female player, yet i play both genders in warframes since every frame play diffrently, and i have favorits from both sides, so stop being judgmental and either try frames of the oppiset sex, or limit your fun cause your afraid of your so called friends, who judge you over a bunch of pixels and textures. Right now I rather them make actual new content, the scarves and helmets are fine because they are not that large so they can be quickly design and put out. You are asking for FULL models with full concept art, design, ect. That takes time and money to make each and every character model. Even if it did generate revenue, it wastes time. This game isnt going to last forever, eventually I want this game to have more variety in gameplay than weird gender issues solutions. I rather have 100 different warframes with individual abilities, rather than have 50 that has both genders where the only difference between half of em is that one half has boobs and other does not. I don't see people complaining about LoL characters for girl Garens or boy Katerinas. How each Warframe is design have it's own personality, one part of it is it's gender, so what if it's a girl or a boy? No one cares as long as you can play the character skillfully. You don't like how that character looks? That's fine, you only have 3 slots for warframes anyways, it takes commitment of plat to make more. TLDR: Don't focus on gender focus on the game. when DE runs out of ideas for new Warframes (Which probably can't happen) then whatever Edited April 1, 2014 by Zeran7

TLDR: Don't focus on gender focus on the game. when DE runs out of ideas for new Warframes (Which probably can't happen) then whatever Gotcha. To clarify- Warframe has seen some real success over this last year and the team working on it has grown. As it continues to grow they will apply different people to different teams working on different things. The question of whether something that makes money is a waste of time is hard to nail down. Balancing cost verses return requires factoring in things like work/time verses output as well as some intangibles like how much catering to player identity might increase each players time played. In this case: Making an alternate gender for a frame is quite a lot of work (models and animations) but does not require the same amount as a brand new frame which also has to settle on theme, get a group of powers and stats. We have questions like : How different would an alt gender frame really be? Mostly a shape/proportion change or something more? Which leads to the question of: will the art director need to be heavily involved in each alternate gender or can they have a subordinate do most of it allowing the art director to simply add notes and approval when necessary? ETC.. Which leads to the larger question of would such a choice increase the players sense of individual identity through such a fundamental choice in appearance? How many people care about this is unknown. To say "don't focus on gender, focus on the game" is something of a mis-classification. No single aspect of the game is the game in itself, the game is many aspects combined together. Sidenote-LOL is a MOBA not a co-op action game with persistent character growth. It may not be applicable. At the end of the day... I feel like it's easy to just say "they should work on X more than Y" but we don't really know what would work out better long term. Katakuna
At this point, I might as well just copy and paste one of my older answers instead of typing it again and again every time a warframe gender thread appears. Separate warframes of the opposite gender with separate powers (hopefully swappable between the two). That's it.

WARLOCKE
it sounds like you and your friends have some serious underlying issues if playing a female avatar warrants any ridicule or discomfort You Know you can turn that right around dont you? SolidSp33d
Lol, you think you've got it bad? Try playing any korean f2p mmo as a female character having to stare at their bare &#!. As for male and female characters. As far as I'm concerned you're just weaing a suit. Whoever is inside the frame isn't disclosed as being male/female. Oh yes, because it makes sense to magically grow boobs if you enter another warframe. And to have a totally different figure. People still on the "one character" thing are they? WARLOCKE
Think for a moment. Female Rhino. How scary would that be? No, it would be awesome. The reason I hate playing female frames ingame is because DE seems to tow the party line with female body types. Nova was a SLIGHT departure from the rampant exploitation in the gaming industry but not far enough for me, Female Rhino would be perfect.
