I am truly appreciative...

In the Devstream they actually put the PROPER drawing and cutting animation for a katana style weapon in the cinematic.

Now if only it shows up in GAME...

Uh oh, another Katana-fanboy thread.

Quick, everyone get out your European Superior Swords.

Dude, I USE a katana in practice. Do you have ANY idea how many games I have seen ACTUAL real life style katana drawing and cutting animations in?

They even put the saya on the HIP! I was scared they would screw it up. But I am impressed. It actually looked almost real.

Haters gonna hate :D, the Katana was super ineffective but it was the best looking sword in history.

Actually it had more Steel Cutting power that europ. swords.

The main draw back was that it took entirely too many years to learn how to properly use the blade to create that level of damage... without breaking the sword in the process. Standard Straight-Swords (Praise the Sun!) dont require as much extensive training, and could take a beating better than the elegant katana.

But i dont really care either way.

Im just going to sit here with my Dakra Prime...

>_>

<_<

and pretend Tenno Fence Spanish-Style....

actually katana are better made than euro swords, as well as being designed to slash and unsheathe at the same time... they also cut(slash) better than euro swords(which are more breaking bones and stuff)

there is a video of a guy using the 2 types of sword on youtube i think

ps answering with studying(learning/knowing) is ridiculous...ur to easy a target then

I hope to see fencing moves too. :) Riposte for the WIN! A straight line usually beats a circle in fighting anyway. (if you know what I am talking about, kudos to you)

Or some actual Italian style double dagger moves... that would be SICK!

The devstream animations ROCK. Battle axe as it SHOULD be with a Scindo! Get OUT of the way!

Yeah, if you're fighting guys wearing pajamas. Folding steel is a terrible way to make a sword.

GUYS! This is just a game, Katanas are cool. Katanas are good looking and are a traditional thing, do you really want to apply logic to space ninjas that defy gravity?

Just a side note, I'm seeing a new side that I never seen before of Kalenath xD

Which is why they need X amount of years to do it properly without damaging the sword.

its nice, it looks aweome. But if i didnt have the prerequisite training, ill take a Straight-Sword over it in a Zombie Apocalipse

Now if we could just get a Cliffs of insanity put into the Earth Tile set.

Inigo Montoya: You are using Bonetti’s Defense against me, ah?
Man in Black: I thought it fitting considering the rocky terrain.
Inigo: Naturally, you must suspect me to attack with Capa Ferro?
Man in Black: Naturally, but I find that Thibault cancels out Capa Ferro. Don’t you?
Inigo: Unless the enemy has studied his Agrippa… which I have.

Hello. My name is Tenno Montoya, you killed my father..

...

Prepare to Die.

Its why i bothered to find the Dakra Prime, Woe be to the Grineer that stands before Ensignvidiot when he can parry and Riposte.

God, if thats ever a thing in Melee 2.0, im going to run through the system with No Guns. Ill take the Dispair to help with flying enemies, but i will cut and thrust my way through every enemy in the game. And it will be Awesome.

I will actually use parry and block mods, and build specifically for Melee combat at that point.

I mean, of course Zephyr is floaty, she is made of special unobtainium that is really light. And its obvious natural talent would NEVER make Ash bladestorm faster, as he needs to breath between Each Poof/Stab.

I HATE most depictions of katana in games. The animations or the details or whatever... Most game developers don't care. I mean, the handle and tsuba (guard) usually are well detailed, but the rest? It doesn't get a lot of attention usually. It doesn't matter. The sword flashes, an enemy dies and it is back in the saya. There are some games where the blades are shown a lot, but rarely do they get the moves right. Of course, different schools teach different styles, but how many ways CAN you cut from shoulder to hip?

Movies like Highlander aside, the katana served a specific purpose at a specific time. The examples that still exists today are beautiful, but in the end, they are swords.

And yes...

INCONCIEVABLE!

Firs yes katanas cut better because those are curved sword second euro swords wasn't for breaking bones they were also sharp but because the plate armore used in europe the stabbings were more used so they were left straight for better stabbing effect. http://youtu.be/e6LcGEzUmdM
